The Island House sits on a private island on the banks of the Stono River. With stunning sunsets, a 180 degree view of the river, and a constant island breeze, you can be assured to have your own little piece of the Lowcountry.
The Island House is a private events venue on the Stono River, with a gorgeous view of our small marina. We own the whole island, so you can expect unsurpassed security and privacy for your wedding day. The house is included for our brides to get ready for a beautiful waterfront wedding ceremony.
Charleston is one of the top destination wedding cities in the world, and at The Island House weddings are our specialty. The venue couldn't have been more picture perfect. Our vendors were able to arrive in the morning to set up, and the bridal / groom parties were given access to the house by mid-afternoon. Lynn, our day of coordinator, was there to make sure all ran smoothly as the big day finally began. My groom and our wedding party exited the first floor of the Island House to make their way down the aisle, and my mother and I (with Lynn guiding my train) descended the stairs from the second floor, meeting … myDad at the bottom. Together we three walked toward my husband to be, who was standing close to the water's edge, facing all our family, our friends, and me. After we'd said our vows and he'd "kissed the bride," our guests were ushered back toward the front lawn of the Island House for a quick cocktail hour, while we took the phenomenal pictures you see here. Finally, the main reception began under the tent on the back lawn, which had side linings down on our day due to some significant breeze (thank goodness it wasn't rain!). There were string lights from the house to the tent, and there were lights all along the water front. Lynn made sure we experienced the incredible menu we'd organized for all our guests, and we seamlessly followed an organic timeline of speeches, dances, songs, and cakes before leaving the Island House as husband and wife. I would definitely recommend both the Island House and Lynn Gottleib! Read More
The Island House is the perfect waterfront venue for a small wedding of 50 to a large wedding of 300 guests, like ours! They keep their grounds beautiful and very well kept. Lynn was always so patient and kind to me, answering all of my questions, with a smile on her face. She was always so accommodating with site visits. Book in advance because more and more people are finding out about this hidden gem!
We LOVED our wedding venue! We were looking for the beautiful outdoor, on the water setting, without the price tag you normally get with it. Island House was very affordable, easy to get to, and had a lot of extras included. Ended up to be the perfect option :)
