Roadside Chive is a full service catering and event planning company, located in the historic American Silk Mills Inc. facility and warehouse on Madison Road in Orange, Virginia.
During WWII, American Silk Mills became the nation’s largest producer of spun raw Chinese silk for parachutes - helping the town of Orange survive the Great Depression. The American Silk Mill facility continues to bring success to the small town of Orange. The 6 acre site of warehouse style brick buildings is now home to an eclectic mix of businesses that are independently owned by local residents and entrepreneurs with their eyes to the future.
The feel of the Roadside Chive kitchen and office is a fun mix of urban, industrial, modern, rustic and small-town-quaint. It’s a nice place to dream and create.
While owned by Currey Fountain (the former Co-Founder/Owner and Executive Chef of beggars banquet catering) Roadside Chive flourishes because of the efforts of her team of hard working culinary and service professionals. If you’re familiar with the beggars banquet catering staff, then you’ll recognize quite a few of the “Roadie” faces - including that of lead Event Planner and all around positive energy, Taylor Gillan.

We had a wonderful experience with Beggars Banquet. I grew up on a dairy and beef cattle farm and my uncle runs a produce company from the farm. We wanted to use our home-grown beef and produce on the wedding menu and Beggars Banquet (Currey in particular) was SO accommodating and more than happy to incorporate this into the menu. Currey did a fantastic job with the layout of the reception and tables and the food was fantastic!
Currey was the most flexible vendor we dealt with. My mother didn't like our original idea of wanting food stations and Currey managed not only to create the menu we wanted, but also convinced my mother to go for the stations. And Currey helped us out to get the specialty international foods we wanted. She knew how to get us what we as the couple wanted, while appeasing my mother. The food was amazing and beautiful. They provided seasonal items, and really worked with us to suggest options and create the menu we wanted and could afford. They were very professional and fun, and helped make our day a success!
We loved working with the Beggars Banquet team. We had a lot of special diets at our wedding, vegans, vegetarians, pregnant women, picky eaters, and they easily accommodated everything. I loved having the food served "family style" as well. We have gotten so many compliments on the food that was served. And we got to keep the leftovers!
I loved working with Beggars Banquet because they worked closely with us to find a menu (and rentals) that fit our budget and theme. Most of the ingredients were sourced locally, which is exactly what I was looking for! We did a plated dinner; in their pricing, it's relatively equivalent to the cost of a buffet--I am still so happy that we were able to do that. Beggars also provided bartenders for us (we were able to provide our own beverages), which was fantastic and made life much easier for … us! The food was spectacular! They really took our taste and our budget to heart and even managed to pull off my husbands special request for super gooey Mac and cheese! Everything was exquisite! Plus they packed up two to-go boxes for us to take with us as we left the wedding and it was just as good the next day!
