About This Wedding

Virginia weddings truly do not get much more perfect than this! Elisa B Photography brings every gorgeous detail to life with huge, up-close photographs that will make you melt. The flowers, by Pat's Floral Designs, are incredible & work wonderfully with the bridesmaids' purple dresses.

Hire a wedding coordinator if you can or someone to help you throughout the process that is not a family member. Having an objective party to help you make decisions and prioritize keeps things moving! Hiring Meghan Streit of Shindig Weddings and Events was the best decision I made in my wedding planning process and she brought so many ideas to life. The best part was that I didn't have to worry about a thing on my wedding day and I was able to truly enjoy the day and be present with my family.

The Couple

Together

My husband, an East Coast boy, and I, a California girl, met 10 years ago at a summer program for high school students at Washington & Lee University in Lexington. We kept in touch and started dating when we were in college, Jack at W&L and me at Vanderbilt. We had a long distance relationship until we moved to Virginia in 2008. He proposed in October 2011 at Prospect Hill Plantation Inn outside of Charlottesville and spent the weekend tasting wine to celebrate!

Do-It-Yourself

There were so many amazing DIY items at our wedding that our guests still talk about! Meghan made all of the key pieces including the table runners with numbers, chalkboards as seating charts, the monogrammed "C" and "J" letters behind our seats, and the gorgeous "LOVE" sign. I selected from fabrics that Meghan found for these items that coordinated with the main colors of the wedding. We have some of them up in our house now. Also, I hired Mekala Tinnin of The Tie That Binds Weddings to help with welcome bags and programs. She is a creative whiz and was such a pleasure to work with.

What's Next

Jack and I are just enjoying being newlyweds now. We still can't believe how fast our wedding came and went but love being able to share our ideas with other couples who liked elements of our wedding. We wouldn't change a thing about our big day! We are so grateful for all of the wonderful people that helped our wedding come to life. We very highly recommend all of our vendors...and will use Elisa and Edward Bricker for family photos (sometime down the road!).
