We're Jay and Larissa, partners, parents, and documentary wedding photographers based in Chicago and capturing weddings around the world. We've photographed love stories from Mexico to the Rocky Mountains and beyond. We've also been ranked among the world's best wedding photographers, but what matters most to us is what our couples think. We are Burroughs Photography - husband and wife wedding photography team. Primarily, we work in the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia areas, but we travel nationwide and frequently photograph weddings far outside of the DMV. I began my photography career over 15 years ago as a photographer for a Natural History Museum. There I learned to be versatile and to shoot anything from galleries, portraits, events to fossils and fieldwork. Just like the museum, weddings also call for a versatile photographer to catch great details, ceremony and reception spaces, portraits and events. But with my wedding photography, I push for more. Inspired by photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, I follow the light and seek decisive moments—emotion and reactions.
