About Ivy & Quartz Photography
Nina R.
Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Having a background in Fine Art has informed the way I photograph everything. I understand and value the importance of sensing the emotions being held around me and what it means to capture those moments. Having knowledge on the history of photography has allowed me to cultivate a deep understanding for what makes an image truly ageless. My photography style walks the line between fine art and documentary. My goal is to freeze not only moments, but feelings in time - to create images that people can look back on decades later and FEEL the love, joy, and every emotion in between.

You Need to Choose Ivy & Quartz Photography
Nina and the Ivy & Quartz Photography team was a dream to work with and we are SO happy with the photos we've gotten so far (haven't gotten our whole wedding photo package back yet but just so excited to rave about her work!). The engagement shoot was an awesome opportunity to get to know Nina and her style as a photographer; the photos were incredible and made me so excited for her to help visually document our wedding day. Day-of, Nina and her team made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera and accommodated our many family photos. I'm in awe of the candids she was able to capture in our sneak peek as well. I truly could not recommend Nina more!!
Perfect Day captured
My husband and I (and our families) are pleased to give 5 stars to Nina for her professionalism, creativity, and wiliness to give us memories from our day that will last a lifetime. She was knowledgeable about the customs and traditions and reverence required to capture a Catholic mass; she knew how to be sure to capture the moments, without distracting from the importance of the Sacrament. I've been to many weddings where all you see is the photographer, but she was able to get the shot without disturbing the elements of the day. She had such patience and flexibility with our very large families, making sure we completed our shot-list and still had time to enjoy the smaller intimate (less posed) moments together. I was not a bride that had a particularly detailed vision of the shots I wanted, mostly we wanted her to capture the party, the joy, the enjoyment. I would (and have) recommended Nina to friends. She's easy to work with, gives good direction to those brides and grooms (like us) with less creative direction then others. She's very willing to give anything a try (she even got on the ground for us so we could take an upshot of us holding hands, one of my now-favorite pictures of the day). She was reasonable, flexible, and upfront about budget and costs. Nothing was a surprise as far as cost and she turned the photos around in a very timely manner. Absolutely recommend and I hope to be able to use her services for other events in our lives in the future. (Wedding June 10, 2023)

Oh how we absolutely love Ivy & Quartz Photography! Nina is extremely talented, professional, and so kind! From our engagement shoot to the day of our wedding, Nina made us feel so comfortable and at ease in front of the camera. She captured so many beautiful photos of us as a couple, ones of our families and our friends, which we will cherish for a lifetime! We highly recommend her for any and all photo ops! We look forward to booking Nina again in the future!
Best Photographer Ever!
Nina was the BEST wedding photographer we could have ever hoped for! My husband and I planned a wedding with a quick turnaround and were basically clueless about the process. Nina went above and beyond as a photographer, showing us so much patience and holding our hands through everything - including even helping us brainstorm photography locations! Even our family and friends raved about how great she was on our wedding day. The pictures themselves turned out absolutely amazing and we could not be happier. We are so grateful to Nina!
