The Ann Arbor Wedding Blog

We don’t want you to get the wrong idea about this college town: Ann Arbor isn’t just throngs of rowdy students in their maize and blue rooting for their beloved Wolverines. Ann Arbor, and the surrounding areas, is home to beautiful lush gardens and historic estates that make for a picturesque background to your wedding day. As you begin to plan your dream Ann Arbor wedding, take a look at our favorite romantic wedding venues to find the perfect place to say "I do!"

    Weller’s Carriage House

Weller’s Carriage house is located in Saline, MI, just south of Ann Arbor. It’s a beautiful and historic property that was originally purchased in the early 1900s by Henry Ford to mill soy beans for their oils. In 1966, the property was purchased and restored by the Weller family, and the 10-acre property is now rented for Ann Arbor weddings, lucky for us!

The Weller’s Carriage House has two different outdoor ceremony sites centered around their beautifully landscaped grounds. The Carriage House banquet room has a rustic, old-world feel with exposed brick, wooden interior, and a working fireplace, & can accommodate up to 232 guests for dinner and dancing. They have their own in-house caterer that serve a buffet-style dinner with passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour. They have 12 different menus to choose from, so there’s definitely something for everyone!

The most unique element that Weller’s Carriage House offers is their full moon weddings. Imagine saying your vows under moonlight, what could be more romantic than that?

    Misty Farm

This Ann Arbor wedding venue is perfect for the bride dreaming of a more rustic, country vibe. It's a private home set on 16 acres of land just 6 miles west of Main Street in Ann Arbor. It features two separate barns, one built in the 1860s and the other at the turn of the century. There are three different possible locations for your ceremony, including the pond setting, the barn, or the perennial garden.

The barn measures 2,400 square feet with the balcony, band area, and dance floor. It can host 120 guests or a tented reception can be held to accommodate larger guest lists. For a rental fee of $6,000, you have access to all buildings on the property, a parking attendant, set up and tear down of tables/chairs, seating for the ceremony site, a staging area for the bride, and a golf cart (which we think is pretty awesome!).

Misty Farm only allows for one event each weekend which is a major stress reliever. You can come in and set up on Friday night and have everything ready for your nuptials on Saturday. And no need to worry about rounding up your bridal and grooms party for tear-down after the wedding, you have all day on Sunday to do that (after brunch of course!).

    Waldenwoods Resort

Waldenwoods certainly has a lot to offer & is one of our favorite Ann Arbor wedding venues. Nestled on 400 acres of sprawling countryside and overlooking a private lake, this venue offers several options for both your ceremony and reception. Take advantage of nature’s bounty with an outdoor ceremony by the lake and then dance the night away to the dimming light of the sunset with a tented reception that can host up to 150 guests. If you have a larger guest list, opt for their 10,000-square-feet banquet center that can accommodate 200 of your closest friends and family.

Qualified, on-site staff promise to help with day-of coordination so you can have peace of mind that everything is being taken care of. The in-house caterer serves a delicious plated dinner with prices starting at $49.95 a person.

What’s truly unique about Waldenwoods is that they are the only venue on this list that offers lodging for up to 25 guests. Why not have your whole wedding party make it a trip for the weekend? Spend your days leading up to the wedding swimming, fishing, or sailing, and celebrate with an after-wedding brunch the next morning.
