This Austin wedding was love at first sight for us for so many reasons. For starters, Paige & Troy incorporated fall colors beautifully, pairing rich hues with rustic details that blended together to create a sophisticated color palette with personality, and as far as couples go, these two lovebirds are downright adorable. Outdoor weddings done right are always some of our favorites, and this one has that cozy charm that makes you want to curl up and pass the night away with your favorite person. AJH Photography tells a perfect story of the day, and Heavenly Day Events simply could not have planned a more perfect soirée....congrats you two lovebirds!! xoxo
From the bride....
Troy and I live in Houston, Texas, but planned to marry in Austin where I was born and raised. We knew we wanted a traditional Catholic wedding at my home church, St. Catherine of Siena, but we also enjoy the outdoors and sought after a reception venue that would reflect our love of nature. The first time I visited Antebellum Oaks I knew it was the perfect place!
Wanting a rustic but elegant Texas themed wedding, we incorporated wine barrels, wooden flower boxes and natural elements such as burlap, twine, succulents and moss into our decor. We felt like the theme embodied our love for the outdoors! Of course, we added some lace to dress it up! The wedding cake was even designed to match the lace detail of my dress by Stardust Pastry. The groom’s cake was a replica of hole 13 on the Punta Espada Golf Course in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, where Troy proposed.
My girls and I started the day sipping mimosas while getting our hair done at The Beauty Store Salon & Spa while my sister did my make up at the church. The ceremony was beautiful, and we felt so loved by our closest family and friends. For me, the most memorable part of the day was my Dad walking me down the aisle to meet Troy. All I could do was look at Troy and smile. The tears of joy started flowing after the ceremony, when we had a moment to soak it all in.
Between the ceremony and reception, we took our bridal party to downtown Austin for pictures in front of the capitol and along a graffiti wall on the east side. The graffiti artists even made it in a few pictures with us, some of my favorites! At the reception, we danced the night away to a live band, the High Island Hepcats. Another one of my favorite moments was dancing with my Dad to the song ‘My Girl’, which was captured perfectly by our photographer, Arol. To top it off, my stepfather set off a beautiful firework display as a surprise for my husband! This was his favorite part of the evening, until I asked him, “Are you sure your favorite part wasn’t when you saw me walking down the aisle?”
Many hands went into the making of the Wirth-Johnson wedding. Our paper goods and centerpieces were DIY with friends and family at the forefront. Our good friend Carol sang during our ceremony, and my Uncle John created a delicious signature cocktail. Our flower centerpieces were arranged by Renee with A Bed of Roses and were placed in flower boxes that were handmade by my Uncle Bill. He used boards from my parent’s fence in our old backyard, which have been used for other family weddings as well. Displayed by our guest book were Troy’s parent’s wedding invitation and personalized napkin alongside my Grandmother’s lace gloves and wedding cake toppers. All of these personal touches definitely made it more special and were brought together in the most elegant way by Loot Vintage.
Troy and I did not realize how quickly the day passed until it was all over. We definitely weren’t ready to leave when our ride came to pick us up so we continued the party at the Hyatt in downtown Austin with a few of our friends. I was amazed at how flawlessly every detail of our special day came together. None of it would have been possible without Heavenly Day Events. We could not have asked for a more perfect evening to celebrate with family and friends; it is one we will remember forever!
