The Birmingham Wedding Blog

Sweet & southern Birmingham, Alabama — talk about a fabulous place to get married! Seriously, if you aren't already aware, this gorgeous old city overflows with breathtaking views, lots and we mean lots of southern hospitality, and a rich history, too. Although each of these things truly makes our hearts go pitter-patter, today our collection of Birmingham weddings has us giddy about this fair city for yet another reason — the oh-so-stunning collection of downtown wedding venues this place proudly calls its own. Because we can't keep even the slightest bit of wedding inspiration to ourselves (nor would we want to), we've gathered together our top 6 downtown Birmingham wedding venues to share with you today!

We must warn you: you may just lose vast amounts of time swooning over each and every venue. Yes, they are just that darn lovely. And because each venue featured here is the epitome of perfection, note that our picks are in no particular order. Ordering them (or picking favorites from this list) was just totally out of the question. Read on, you'll see what we mean.

B&A Warehouse

First up, B&A Warehouse. Top-rated with by vendors, couples, and their families alike, this former Industrial Revolution-era factory is an urban wedding venue dream come true. From preservation of original structures, such as the high-beamed ceiling and the brick walls, to the addition of the great modern day amenities — three fully-stocked bars, modern restrooms, a wooden dance floor, advance sound systems, a stage area, and more — you could easily say that this place combines the best of old world and present day luxuries.

Beyond the fabulous aesthetics and amenities mentioned above, B&A Warehouse has made a name for itself in the Birmingham market thanks to its fine, on-site catering services and its ability to host anywhere from 15-1,500 guests. Could it get any better? Why, yes, it can, because we haven't even mentioned the best part. This downtown venue boasts of having not one, not two, not three, but four drop-dead-gorgeous event spaces to choose from for your wedding day. In fact, you can opt for all four for your upcoming Birmingham wedding day! The main ceremony and reception room, proudly called "The Brick Room" due to its high, red brick walls is a marvelous choice for your big day thanks to its nice, large size and modern amenities. Adjoining "The Brick Room" is the smaller, yet equally pretty "Crossing Room." Because simple sliding factory doors separate these two rooms, you can easily use this area to expand your reception, host a separate cocktail area, or even create a separate space for games, entertainment, etc! Next up, "The Glass Room." Aptly named due to the grand windows that line the walls, this space is on the smaller size and makes for an exceptional space for smaller soirees or ceremonies. Last, but certainly, not least, couples can select "The Bottle Room." Our personal favorite because every wall is decorated with rows and rows of bottles of every assortment. Just think of how pretty any of these spaces would be for hosting your upcoming wedding day!

If you are looking for a venue that's the definition of southern history and urban style combined into one, then this is definitely a top contender.

Bridgestreet Gallery & Loft

There are so many good things to say about this next venue that we almost don't even know where to start. For example, in addition to serving the community as a beautiful art gallery (yes, you can find the work of local artists displayed here any time of year), Bridgestreet Gallery & Loft also opens its doors to couples all year 'round as an unparalleled wedding event space. And, my oh my, what a lovely wedding venue it is. Consisting of two full floors, cross-beam ceiling, and light brick walls, this venue definitely makes an amazing backdrop. However, our favorite detail about this place is that the remaining historic features in no way overwhelm or control what you can do with the space. As they like to say at the venue, "With two floors and its white background, the possibilities are endless." And it's true.

On top of being one of the prettiest venues we've ever seen, Bridgestreet Gallery & Loft also wowed us for two additional reasons: 1). It's owned by the highly rated Go Pro Events Solutions, a company that is dedicated heart and soul to not only providing couples amazing venues, but superb planning services. From event coordination to help picking out the right vendors for your day, they are right by your side from "Yes!" to "I do." 2). The excellent location. Situated in the heart of the city center, this venue is conveniently located near downtown hotels, shopping, restaurants, and fun attractions that can keep your guests happy and entertained. For a venue that will let your style shine while simultaneously adding a bit of old world character to your day, look no further.

Alabama Theatre

Can you say glam? Because the Alabama Theatre is just that in the purest form — historic and ultra, ultra, glitzy. Since its creation in the 1920s, the theater has been entertaining Alabama natives and out-of-town visitors for years. Today, it keeps up its status as one the most amazing places to visit in the downtown area and as the go-to place for a bit of old school fun. However, as much as anyone loves a good stage performance, we just can't help but love this place for its second function — other-worldly Birmingham weddings. Can you imagine walking down the aisle among the old red, velvet theater seats, exchanging vows on the big stage and then dancing the night away under the famous gold ceiling? We don't know about you, but that thought sounds heavenly to us!

Seriously, folks, we can't get over how unique and wonderful it would be to host a wedding here at this grand old theater. But, then another exquisite detail was shared with us — the Alabama Theatre adjoins the Hill Event Center! That means that that you'll not only get to enjoy the luxurious theater on your big day but all the two beautiful spaces next door — the elegant Banquet Hall (which still has the original chandeliers from the time it functioned as the Tutwiler Hotel) and The Loft, which overlooks the iconic Alabama Theatre marquee. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, shake that notion right out of your head because this place is real and waiting to help you celebrate your big day in a one-of-a-kind fashion!

Vulcan Park & Museum

If any venue in Birmingham could represent the fusion of the city's past and present, it would clearly be Vulcan Park & Museum. Inside the museum, you and your guests can interact with the past by learning about Birmingham's history and the vision that made this cherished landmark a reality. Outside (or shall we shall outside and on top of the building), overlook all of Birmingham from The City Overlook, check out the stone map of the city on the Museum Plaza, and celebrate your day in the modern Electra Event room, which, may we add, is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities, a bar, a private patio, a catering kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Needless to say, you won't have to worry about having options when you choose Vulcan Park & Museum for your wedding day — everything you could ever desire in a venue is just waiting to be enjoyed!

We could go on and on about how truly indescribable the views from this wedding venue are, but we'll let the photos below do the talking!

Woodrow Hall

Hailing from 1914, this wonderful event space underwent two full years of renovation in order to be the beauty it is today. However, don't let the word "renovation" let you think that Woodrow Hall lacks for warm and historic character because nothing could be further from the truth. That's right, all the things that are signature to urban wedding venues are right here for you to soak up on your big day — high, beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, big windows, brick walls, and more, while cool amenities like video and sound capabilities, a plasma TV, and more gracefully bring this historic venue to the modern age and provides brides and grooms with those oh-so-important wedding day necessities.

Offering two banquet halls, Woodrow Hall is ideal for hosting your ceremony and reception of 200 or more all in one place. Stress-free experience, anyone? Both are equally gorgeous and perfect for hosting the day you've envisioned. Lastly, this venue offers a VIP room, catering services, and a fab selection of rentals!

Sloss Furnaces

When you host your wedding day at Sloss Furnaces, it feels like you've stepped back in time to the height of Birmingham's industrial expansion. This site, which was responsible for producing iron for the city for 90 years, reaches new heights when it comes to bringing a unique touch of history and urban chic to your big day. Old towers stand in the backdrop, railways still encircle the former factory, the furnaces still grace the landscape and together they make for a wedding venue that knows no comparison.

In the gorgeous Birmingham wedding below, all the beauty that we speak of comes to life before your eyes. We just adore the ceremony in front of the waterfall-esque furnaces and the portraits by the railway! Needless to say, when you choose this urban venue, you can have it all — a piece of history, stunning views, and a truly personalized day.

If you find yourself fawning over each and every urban venue here, we don't blame you. From museums to factories to theaters to warehouses, every place on this list deserves every bit of the attention and praise that it has received from us. Now that you're fully introduced to each, we entrust the difficult part to you — choosing just one of these Birmingham wedding venues for your big day!
