The Most Beautiful Churches in Charlottesville to Wed

While many Charlottesville brides choose to take the vows in the great outdoors that offer sweeping views of the Blue Ridge mountains & vineyards, there are still plenty who always imagined themselves having a church wedding. There are a number of beautiful & historic churches in Charlottesville, so to lend a hand to those brides-to-be who still haven't decided on which place of worship they'd like to wed but know that they want the traditional church wedding, I've done a bit of research & scoured our archives to help you find the perfect setting for your Charlottesville wedding.

UVA Chapel

1619 University Avenue
Charlottesville, VA 22903

Of course, we could never talk about a church wedding in Charlottesville without first mentioning the famous UVA Chapel, a small Gothic Revival church built in 1885. One of the biggest reasons Charlottesville is becoming such a destination wedding hotspot is because so many men & women attend UVA as undergrads & fall in love with the charm of this fair city. Once they're engaged, Charlottesville is the first place that pops into their minds to wed, and it's no wonder. UVA Chapel is a natural choice, especially since it is such an inexpensive alternative, costing only $350 for alumni. But, you must book early! The chapel gets so may requests for Charlottesville weddings that they must use a lottery system to book the Chapel for wedding ceremonies. It's all worth it though, because as you can see, this place is truly lovely.

St. Paul's Memorial Church

1700 University Avenue
Charlottesville, VA 22903

Another beautiful church on the University of Virginia grounds, St. Paul's Memorial Church is an Episcopalian congregation built in the early 1900s. It was designed with the intent that it be "architecturally harmonious with nearby university buildings," and with the quintessential Jeffersonian columns, it certainly is.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church

851 Owensville Road
Charlottesville, VA 22901

Another beautiful Episcopalian church with the name of St. Paul's is located in Ivy and was formed as long ago as the 1830s. The stained glass at St. Paul's Episcopal Church is awe-inspiring & helps create that classic look that any bride who wants the traditional church wedding for her Charlottesville wedding will love.

Christ Episcopal Church

120 West High Street
Charlottesville, VA 22902

Formed in 1820, Christ Episcopal Church is Charlottesville's first church, so its perfect for the bride who wants to be married in a place with a rich history! Don't hold me to it, but this might be the most beautiful church in Charlottesville!

University Baptist Church

1123 West Main Street
Charlottesville, VA 22903

Well, I didn't quite mean for this but it seems this is really a blog post about which church to get married in around UVA! University Baptist Church has been a Main Street landmark on "The Corner" since 1929 & has witnessed a number of Charlottesville weddings and UVA brides & grooms unite their lives.

There are plenty of spectacular places of worship and churches in Charlottesville; this is only a small sample. Brides-to-be: let us know whether you're opting for an outdoor or church wedding & why! We'd love to know!
