We are a new farm on a property that dates back almost 150 years, with sunlit pastures and winding paths leading us back in time... back to a time when picking wildflowers or petting a sheep could happily take up the better part of an afternoon.
Phase one of our farm is to make a free-range paradise for children where they can: Cheer on a chicken race... Befriend a pygmy goat (or two)... Scavenge for fossils... Pan for sparkling gemstones in the 1870 mines... Feed the fainting goats... Sing with the chickens... Look for free range eggs... Make s'mores ... Go fishing in our pond stocked with trophy bass, catfish, and bream... Relax in the farmhouse while making homemade goats milk soap... And otherwise while the day away...
Have something to celebrate? The barn is now ready for your special event, wedding, family, or corporate function. Attach a tent to our barn and the possibilities are endless. The ancient oak trees which shade the farm and the golden light streaming through their branches are a photographers' dream. The grassy field is a perfect setting for a big family celebration. We are here to share our beautiful farm with you - if you can imagine it, we will do our best to make it happen!
The best part is that all of this can be found just minutes away from the UNC Campus, the heart of Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. Help us grow with your requests and ideas. At 1870, we strive to be the premier Care Farm in North Carolina, offering opportunities to connect with nature and enrich mind and body.
