Bespoke is a term borrowed from our lovely British comrades which means “custom or tailor made.” As the studio's name implies, we seek to create truly one of a kind pieces for our clients.
Having first opened shop while living in the gorgeous little British town of Henley-on-Thames, England, we established our trademark look that was inspired by the British countryside's natural beauty as well as the gorgeous calligraphy on antiquated stone buildings, pub walls, and in the royal mail. We seek to create pieces that reflect a similar timeless, classic nature to the beauty we were surrounded with there. Bespoke Strokes Calligraphy is now located back home in the Pacific Northwest in Seattle, Washington - another area ripe with inspiration!
Chantelle Hoffmann, the "hand" behind the calligraphy, has worked hard to pursue formal calligraphic training in addition to her own personal study. Over the years she has taken courses from some the of the most respected penmen and women of the day. Most recently, this includes Masters Penmen Michael Sull, Harvest Crittendon, Jake Weidmann, and Barbara Calzolari. She is an active member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH).
Whether it's an invitation suite, day-of stationery, envelope addressing, or a special custom commission that you need, we would be honored to be your partner in creating something "bespoke" just for you!
