I have a serious obsession with Seattle weddings. I am a firm believer that a little rain only ads to the beauty of your wedding day, and these two lovebirds embraced it with both arms. Van Wyhe Photography was behind the lens on this gem and captured every sweet moment to sheer perfection. The ivory and black colors were highlighted by the warmth of the candelabras and the inviting rustic feel of Sodo Park. The luxurious cream drapery and the candlelit branches created a warm and romantic atmosphere for this adorable couple on a chilly evening.
From Pink Blossom Events:
Chelsey & Jody's December 1, 2012, wedding at Sodo Park makes me forget about the cold and rain of the winter season and reminds me of all the beauty a winter wedding can provide. Black and ivory was the theme of the evening as Chelsey and Jody celebrated with friends and family this past December. After handing off their keys to Butler Valet, guests arrived at Sodo Park and were immediately drawn to the sounds of Tom Meada on the piano and were seated inside lush ivory draping that was all a glow with candles and an aisle full of cascading ivory ribbon. After the I Do's, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with a signature martini tree by Herban Feast Catering. Once seated for dinner, the Craig Lawrence Band played background music as guests dined on a gourmet dinner paired with wines from the Father of the Bride's winery, Barons V. A few of the guests nibbled on the custom snowflake cookie favors placed on each place setting as toasts and cake cutting kicked of a night of dancing. Truly a gorgeous winter affair!
How we met as described by Chelsey: I was having dinner with my dad one night at a restaurant in Tacoma when the owner, who was a friend of my dad's, asked me if I had a boyfriend. I told her I didn't, and she said she had the perfect guy for me (even though I had only just met her). She was friends with Jody's mom and called her up to have him come over. He was getting pulled over for speeding at the time and turned around to drive 30 minutes from where he had just come from to go to the restaurant. We met that night and exchanged numbers. Three days later, Jody drove an hour and a half to Seattle for our first official date. He was so sweet! He had reservations at two restaurants because he wasn't sure what kind of food I liked.
How he proposed as described by Chelsey: In December of 2011, we were at a family Christmas party where we had decided to do a white elephant gift exchange. Jody picked the first gift which was literally a white elephant stuff animal. The way the rules go, he got to "steal" a gift from whomever he wanted after everyone else had opened theirs. He chose me, got down on one knee and handed me the white elephant that had a red ribbon tied around it with a beautiful ring.
