If your dream wedding includes mountain views, a stunning barn, and a waterfront ceremony site, then Big Spring Farm was made for you! Our name sake, Big Spring, is one of the largest natural springs in the state, forming a pristine 10-acre lake at the center of the property. In 2010 the farm house and barn were taken down to their original, 19th century post and beam structures and have been meticulously rebuilt melding traditional and modern styling. Recently we added a commercial heat and a/c system to the barn for complete comfort during any season. Perhaps the greatest feature of Big Spring is that this private setting does not sacrifice any convenience necessary for your special day. We are minutes from the I-81/I-64 interchange, as well as all the dining, shopping, and lodging that historic Lexington has to offer. Best Local Venue for Intimate Weddings
"Jill & Buddy were wonderful to work with. Their house and land was beautiful and a perfect setting for an intimate, earthy, rustic wedding location. They went above and beyond, were always easy to contact, quick to respond to questions or concerns. Location comes with a lengthy contract, which is to be expected from venues who know the importance of insuring and protecting not only themselves but all parties involved, such as the bride/groom and vendors as well. Perks: Area was serene and seemingly "cut off" from everything else for the duration of the wedding. Like a peice of heaven! There is onsite parking, which remained completely hidden in pictures and photography of the event. Although secluded in the rolling hills, Big Spring Farm is still located near Lexington local businesses for catering, other vendor services, etc. which are easily traveled to by the main highway located only moments away. One downfall: Although Buddy mentioned they were working to add new features to Big Spring, the venue did not have onsite toilets.... This meant we had to rent a "rest room trailer" which was expensive but absolutely necessary for our party of 100. (I have added this necessary added expense into our total cost for using the venue because although we used an outside service to accomodate the "Rest Room Trailer," it was absolutely necessary in order to use Big Spring as our venue. If you are a Bride on a budget, as I was, be weary. If you rather not have porter potties on your big day, for whatever reason -- Porter potties can be an eye sore in photos, Grandparents and elderly guests could have a hard time using them, or simply because the Bride would have to in her gown -- We chose the least expensive toilet trailer option with running water to flush and wash hands and it was an additional expense of $1200.) *** Big Spring may have added toilets by now, but for our wedding there weren't any. Overall -- We fell in love with Big Spring. I knew it was "Our Venue" as soon as I stepped foot out of our car. Beautiful beyond words. What a wonderful day we had! To this day, our guests still comment on the beauty of Big Spring Farm and the wonderful pictures that came from our event. Love, and high recommendation -- Derrick & Joanna Garber"
