"West Shore Cafe was the perfect venue for our wedding and reception. We rented the entire venue and had the ceremony on the lawn, followed by drinks and dinner on the deck overlooking the lake. Couldn't have asked for better weather in late June (thankfully no snow or bears!). "

"I'm hoping that our experience was uniquely bad. I will give the caveat that their normal event coordinator was on FMLA, but they clearly had no plan for a back up. We ended up talking to multiple contacts that didn't seem to know answer to our questions and always said politely "we'll look into it and get back to you" but we never heard anything until we called again (and we would let 1-2 weeks go by before calling/emailing again). multiple examples of disorganization: They asked US to send them a copy of the contract because they "couldn't find it". Our florist, who had done several weddings at WSC, was planning to use their "arch". When we inquired about availability with WSC staff, we got a quick reply: we don't have an arch. Our florist said she had just been at a wedding where it was used. On a second inquery, the same person apparently took some time to ask and low and behold they had it. we had multiple different contacts - gave the same information several times, but it never seemed to be finalized. they changed the menu after we had picked entrees - and then served the wrong appetizers at the wedding with "sorry, seemed too late to change it after mistake was brought up". we asked for a table chart several times with no response - and ended up making placecards in our hotel room the day before the wedding because their reply literally came days before the wedding. they wouldn't let my mother in law book her room at the inn because they said they didn't have a list of people allowed to stay there. when I called to correct them, they found the list. I think we were actually quite understanding about the fact that they were pinch hitting - but the number of things that went wrong eventually became quite frustrating and unacceptable. and I think the biggest issue was that they didn't seem to care...their response times were slow if at all, they made mistakes, they lost documentation several times. the only good I didn't "not recommend" them is because the inn and setting are beautiful and hard to top, and the wait staff was fantastic the night of the wedding. but as I said, the planning was a nightmare."

" Bridget and Daniel, I am sorry to hear about your experience with the wedding coordination at our venue. I am also sorry that the items you mentioned were not addressed in a timely manner or handled properly. Understandably this doesn't affect your wedding day, but since your event we have taken great strides with our event staff and brought on several new managers. I know we could never fully make it up to you, but we would like a chance to try. Would you please contact me at 530.525.5200 and ask for the General Manager, Jessica Barton so we can discuss. Thank you, Jessica Barton "

"The West Shore Cafe was absolutely perfect for us. They were so responsive and accommodating to us in planning our wedding. We didn't rent out the whole place for our small wedding of 30 guests but they made it feel private and intimate. It is a beautiful location and right on the lake. I would recommend this location to anyone."
