Pine Valley Ranch Park offers treasures of yesteryear and inspires memories that last a lifetime. Pine Valley Ranch offers 1.3 miles of quiet, easy-to-moderate trails that are hiker-only. Nearly three miles of multi-use trails are open to all. Buck Gulch Trail allows access to the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area External Link Icon in Pike National Forest External Link Icon. The gem of the valley is Pine Lake. Skaters and anglers enjoy the ice when they're not warming by the hearth in a lakeside hut. Anglers can enjoy pier fishing in warmer months.
Pine Valley Ranch Park is a picturesque foothills setting for a wedding, a family reunion, a birthday party or large picnic, with three rental facilities. Two shelters -- Bald Eagle Shelter is the larger, and Hummingbird Shelter is the smaller -- and the Baehr Pagoda/gazebo, built in 1939 on an island in the North Fork of the South Platte River, can be reserved up to 6 months in advance. Rentals are offered in a 5-hour block between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April through September, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October through March. A small visitor center, formerly a gardener's shed, is open on weekends and holidays, May through September. Visit with a Volunteer Host to get information about local plants and wildlife, pick up a trail map or learn about the history of the park.
