Details

The Barn at Castle Hill was built in 1998 as an arena for cattle auctions. Architects saw its potential as a fairytale wedding site and renovated the 11,000 square-foot structure. The classically-built post and beam barn radiates a sophistication over one of the most romantic and historic settings in Virginia. Exquisite in its architectural design, there is ample room for seated dinners and receptions that spill onto the terraced lawns. Circus-sized tents can be erected for covered events. Wedding ceremonies can be held indoors or out with stunning views in all directions. The main hall has a large open area and 45 square-foot stage. At one end is the Tasting Room with mahogany bar and fieldstone fireplace. Upstairs is a 3,000 square foot elevated Loft that can accommodate 200 guests, and a spacious, yet cozy, Library which was designed with the comfort of the bride and her attendants in mind.

European Linden trees were originally planted in an oval to form a racetrack for horses. Today the limbs link to create a natural shelter.

Outside the Tasting Room, wedding ceremonies are framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Late afternoon weddings are rewarded with stunning sunsets -- and incredible wedding photography.

Extending past the Cider Barn, terraced lawns are bordered by cherry trees and wisteria arbors.

At the foot of the terraced lawns, this shimmering jewel reflects the emerald landscape. In the evening, light from the barn twinkles in its surface.

"When we had our wedding tour at Castle Hill Cider we immediately fell in love with the venue. Beautifully nestled in Keswick, Virginia this working cidery transforms from a simplistic barn like structure to a rustic, yet elegant venue. We felt it would provide the warm inviting ambience we wanted for a winter wedding. Differing from most venues, Castle Hill Cider has a focus on customization. You are not obligated or able to rent any items from the venue itself. While this may seem daunting at first, we realized it allows the bride and groom to have creative control. Evelyn and her team at Castle Hill Cider help you execute that creativity by providing a list of exceptional local vendors. In our initial meeting Evelyn was able to show us photography of how other brides and vendors have set up the event space. With the vendors they recommend, will not be alone in the planning process. Castle Hill Cider has had major success in events and weddings by utilizing their event space well. We had access to the Barn (reception site), the Tasting Room, the Library (which (turns into a bridal loft), outdoor grounds, and the Loft. We chose to get married and have our reception onsite. Evelyn was flexible to work with, and allowed the bridal party early access to the venue for hair and make up. She made us to feel at home all day in our wedding venue. The Library, where the bride gets ready, has large leather couches, a fireplace, outside deck, and half bathroom. I spent the majority of the early day there with my bridesmaids. For the ceremony we got married in "The Loft." Don't be fooled by the name, this room sits above the reception space in the barn and seated 150 of our guests comfortably! With gorgeous hard wood floors and large barn windows, it was a dreamy ceremony site. The only way the guests can get to the Loft if you chose to use that as your ceremony space, was through the library. The event staff will put up large screen like doors to hide the bride and bridesmaids temporarily. Guests then enter the Loft on a catwalk that hangs above the reception space. We loved that our guests could see our reception room as they prepared for the ceremony. All of our vendors were extremely familiar with Castle Hill, and Cody our wedding planner made the Loft space stunning with candles and florals. We loved the idea that we could decorate the barn exactly how we wanted. With the convenience of an onsite ceremony, guests were able to walk back downstairs and enjoy cocktail hour immediately. Castle Hill Cider is big enough that it does not require a "flip." The room was set up beautifully by our planner, caterer, and MS Events rentals. Insulated well, our guests were comfortable through out the night on a chilly January evening. Aside from the indoor access, we still benefitted from the outdoor space for photographs. Our pictures came out beautifully (especially for winter) as we walked through groves of trees. While rentals are not necessary through Castle Hill Cider, alcohol is available to purchase. Working with Evelyn, we decided to use their delicious cider in our signature cocktails! This was a great personal touch to provide our guests. Castle Hill Cider was our ideal winter wedding space. Working with exceptional vendors we felt we created the look we wanted from beginning to end. Evelyn not only listened to our ideas, but encouraged our decisions through out the process. We still visit Castle Hill Cider from time to time to enjoy the cider, and relive our special day! "

"Choosing Castle Hill was the perfect venue for our wedding! I love how you can use the entire grounds for different parts of your wedding. When it comes to gettting married the bride always stresses on what will the weather be like the day of & with the loft as a back up to an outdoor wedding it definitely gives you tons of peace of mine the day of your wedding to be stress free & relaxed. I do have a recommendation for CH in that the indoor barn could have been cleaned a little better the day of. When you are paying that kind of money for renting the grounds it should be a spotless presentation. If you do get married here DO NOT let your dress touch the concrete floor until AFTER pictures & the ceremony. It is very dusty."

"We knew from the beginning that we wanted to have a fall wedding, with a mix of the rustic and the elegant. Through our planner, Becca Beasley/Becca Bee Events, we found Castle Hill Cider. We immediately fell in love with the grounds and the beautiful loft of the barn. As soon as we entered the loft, with its architecture and huge barn doors that open, we knew that we wanted to hold our ceremony in the loft. The loft felt like a chapel to us, and there was an intimacy that we were instantly drawn to. In the reception area, there is even a huge stage for a band to be featured! The barn and loft are a complete blank space upon which you can create your own vision. Fortunately, all of our Castle Hill Cider planning and arrangements were handled through our wonderful planner, Becca Beasley/Becca Bee Events."

"Castle Hill met our expectations for why we picked it which was for the location and the beauty. It was important to us to have our wedding in Keswick and Castle Hill was our favorite location of all of the options in Keswick. On the technical side of things - There were issues along the way with communication and contracts - having a great planner to work with them was key!"

"Beautiful Space and alot of places to take pictures :-). I loved the we had a back-up option to have the ceremony in the loft in case of rain. Luckily our weather was perfect and we didn't have to use it though. "

"Castle Hill Cider is an amazing venue, in a prime location. They have so much to offer in terms of variety of ceremony locations, the upstairs loft, and the huge barn area. The communication with their staff was a bit difficult during our planning process, and there were a few misunderstanding along the way with our contract and what had been agreed to. However, I find their benefits to outweigh these issues I experiences, so I'd recommend them. "

"Can't rave enough about our experience working with Castle Hill. The setting was GORGEOUS. You cannot undervalue their stunning setting, and the gorgeous building (with air conditioning!) which is a great option for bad weather. The staff went above and beyond to make our day special, even taking care of our ring bear (our dog) who was terrified of the summer storms. Things to note: you definitely shell out for the location. Additionally: you need to essentially rent a kitchen as Castle Hill doesn't have much. So this adds considerably to the minimum cost of the wedding. Including it in my review so no bride is shocked, but the price is worth it."

"Castle Hill Cider is a fantastic venue that holds a large number of people and provides the couple a venue that can be truly transformed. It has breathtaking landscape all around it ! Evelyn, the manager of the property, is very sweet to work with. She showed great enthusiam for our wedding and celebrated with us on the day of. She was also very accomodating to some of our requests. The drawbacks of the venue was that there was not a large prep / kitchen area as well as the venue does not come with any chairs, tables, and / or linens. Further, the venue also required us to obtain an additional bathroom due to the fact that it only has one on the main floor. "

"Castle Hill was such a beautiful place to get married! With the rustic elements of the huge white barn to beauty of the rolling green hills in the background. The setting lent itself to a memorable event. I couldn't have asked for anything more!"
