The A&H’s Maitland Art Center, originally known as the Research Studio, was founded in 1937 by visionary artist and architect J. André Smith. The center was originally a winter artist’s colony, dedicated to fostering an exploratory approach to modern art. Just outside of downtown Tampa sits The Orlo, a private social club housed within the historic Spafford House and ballroom. Orlo J. Spafford, the president of the Tampa National Bank, built the Orlo in 1896 to share with his son and his family. In 1922 the Orlo was sold to the Tampa Women’s Club where the addition of a ballroom was made to host formal parties and extravagant dances. The Barn at Jewel Farms was created as an extension of Lake Jewel Farms, a plant nursery and landscaping company in Odessa, FL. Owners Henry and Kristen Arce decided to expand their property and business in 2021, by buying an additional 15 acres of land adjacent to their plant nursery. Their vision was to build a barn as an event center to bring people together for weddings and other special events. The Crocker Memorial Church was built in 1901 and has been in continuous use ever since. This charming little white church is a marvel of adaptive use. It has been moved three times and has now come to rest in Pioneer Park, the home of the Historical Society of Sarasota County. The Crocker Memorial Church sits next to the Bidwell-Wood House, built in 1882. Both the spacious front and back porches of this home are welcome gathering places for your wedding party and guests. The time block needs to include decorating, the event and clean up. Tables and chairs are included in the rental price. Our staff will set the tables and chairs up for you by 11am on the day of your event. All other set up and decorating is DIY. We do use preferred catering so we ask that you choose from a list of five approved vendors. If you go outside that list, or choose to bring your own food there will be $250 fee.
