Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

    5.0

    Oklahoma City, OK
    • Serves DeKalb, IL

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

I decided to DIY my wedding flowers. It started off a little rocky as Flower Moxie had not mentioned that your cargo might go through surprise inspections. I had to go to the airline cargo twice as I got unlucky with the inspection. I understand that this isn't Flower Moxie's fault, but I thought it would have been good for them to mention in their very detailed explanation of the cargo pickup. When I picked up the flowers, I noticed 12 stems were missing and one bunch of flowers were moldy. It was after hours and I sent them a message. The morning after, they gave me a called and took care of it right away. They gave me the option for replacements or a refund. I decided to go with the refund just in case it didn't show up on time. Overall, I really appreciated their fast communication and work around. My refund came in two days. Everyone loved the flowers at the wedding and they were surprised that it was a DIY! Best word of advice is to find someone you trust to deliver them for you. Other than that, Flower Moxie's videos and tutorials were so helpful, make sure to watch them! They are also very entertaining to watch.

Working with Jen on our florals was the best decision we could have made! Our flowers were ready a month before our wedding taking away a huge stressor for our big day. Her ordering process was easy to use and as time went on whatever changes we needed Jen took care of right away and gave us insight to what would look best. Everything was extremely affordable and being able to personalize your florals is so important and made them all the more special. Our guests and wedding party complimented our centerpieces, arrangements, and bridal party florals all night. Another special aspect is the longevity of our florals. We have both my bouqet and my husbands boutonniere on display in our home and they will last a lifetime for us to look at and remember our wedding. I will forever be thankful for Wood & Word Blooms for making our wedding all the more beautiful.

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

Brittney was an amazing person to work with! She was great at providing all the information for the rentals such as what was provided in the package, the selection of flowers, and when we came into her store to see the flowers, I was happy with what she had. Super nice gal along with her staff, and being a Christian like me was the icing on the cake! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for rent flowers for their wedding or any special occasion. Thank you very much!

Bukky from Exquisite Events & Floral Design really did love up to her business's name. She helped to create an absolutely exquisite floral design for my wedding and I have received nothing but compliment after compliment since the event, with people describing the set up as "like a fairy tale," "a winter wonderland," and "like a scene out of Bridgerton," (I'll take it! Haha). I can only take credit for the initial idea of what I wanted. Bukky listened to my ideas, developed a beautiful design mock-up to share with me and executed it flawlessly. Beyond that, she was kind and friendly to work with, open to unique requests (I had some personal items I wanted to incorporate into the bridesmaid bouquets and she was so accommodating!), and so clearly concerned with making sure that my husband and I were happy with how things turned out. I can't recommend her enough. She is an artist. She is a professional. She clearly has integrity in her work. Heck, she was even an advocate for me when ones of my other vendors tried to bully me. TLDR: YES. I would hire Bukky all over again, and you should, too. She will exceed expectations.

As my fiancé and I started the wedding planning process, we joked that our loose theme would be “flowers and love.” We knew we wanted lots of beautiful, lush florals as the primary decor focus, and also knew we didn’t want to spend the many thousands of dollars to achieve that look with a standard florist. If you’re in the same boat, and have an appetite for some DIYing, I’d STRONGLY recommend working with Bloom Culture. After some Googling for DIY wedding florals, I came across Bloom Culture and spoke with Allison for a custom consultation. During the call, Allison helped me express the type of floral look we were going for, and built out a custom floral package that would achieve it. She also laid out the delivery and prep process, and we landed on a final package and timeline for delivery. We received a LARGE box of flowers the week before the wedding and were immediately pleased with the quantity and quality of flowers we had received. Allison’s guide mentioned that some crushed or damaged blooms would be completely normal, but everything was so well packaged we didn’t notice more than a few damaged stems. From there, the DIYing began. Between unpacking, trimming, de-thorning, trimming again, building bouquets, arrangements, boutonnieres, etc, etc, it was a LOT of work. However, we referenced Allison’s guides (written, video tutorials) religiously and they laid out everything perfectly. She strongly recommends having plenty of assistants -- pay attention to this advice! Find a few trusted friends or family members who have time and artistic ability and it will make all the difference in your stress levels. The flowers all lasted beautifully for the wedding and we received so many compliments on how they looked. Allison - thank you for everything!

Katie was a breeze to work with! I am not big on real flowers and wanted something that would represent my husband and I. Her prices are comparable to real flowers and are even more lovely! I love that her flower designs mimic real flowers and that foliage was an option. She took the care to make sure I had what I wanted and sent me multiple pictures during the process and of the finished result before we picked them up for the wedding. She accepted my feedback and made changes to the bouquets to match my vision. I still have my bouquet and my husbands boutonniere as keepsakes that remind me of our special day. I would use her services again and again!
