Hello! I'm Amanda, born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. I am a self-taught baker who started baking 10 years ago by starting with cakes and advanced my way up to other baked goods including but not limited to macarons, beautifully decorated sugar cookies and many more. I enjoy every step of the baking process and decorating. It warms my heart to feed others my delicious creations and to hear how much they've enjoyed them.

Black Dog Gelato is a local gelato shop that features Chef driven flavors. A nod to traditional style ice cream, Black Dog takes Chicago Style Gelato to a whole new level. We spin our gelato fresh everyday and are constantly changing flavors with the seasons. Unexpected and wonderful, BDG is truly a delight.

I am a self-taught home baker and proud mother of one. My journey began as a paralegal, but everything changed when I baked and decorated my first cake in 2014 for Ella's 4th birthday. I wanted to create a memorable experience for her party, and little did I know it would ignite a deep passion within me. Soon I found myself baking for friends & family. Before I knew it, I had developed a substantial customer base. Over the years, I have come to realize that baking is a pure and simple expression of love and joy for others. In January 2020, I made the bold decision to follow my passion and pursue my dreams in the world of baking.

We are a small woman & LGBTQ+ owned business in Ravenswood, Chicago. We opened for business on February 1st, 2021. Everything you see here is handmade by us! I was born and raised in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and a recent grad of the University of Iowa. My love for all things food doesn’t have a starting point, it has always been part of my life. I started The Bun Bar in hopes of sharing my love of baking with others. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing happy customers and bringing people together to enjoy a sweet treat!

Though my two little ones are a handful in themselves, I love experimenting in the kitchen mixing and matching ingredients and creating my own specialty recipes. In my spare time, I also enjoy spending time with friends, family, shopping and working out (good thing because I love to eat).

I got my start many years ago when I was living back home in Chicago, at a cute little bakery, that I still visit to this day! I went back and forth between working in graphic design to cooking and baking. I started working in the bakery at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center as a part-time line cook in 2013 and in 2015 a became their in-house cake designer. In 2019 I decided to leave my position at the hotel and opened Sugar Flower Cake Design. I love seeing the joy when my clients cut into their cake and take their first bite - it makes life much sweeter! - Jennifer Smith

The Original Rainbow Cone has been a staple in Chicago for over 95 years! We serve our signature combination of Chocolate, Strawberry, Palmer House, Pistachio and Orange Sherbet sliced and stacked on a cone. We also offer other flavors upon request. Molly’s Cupcakes opened in 2007 in the heart of Lincoln Park, Chicago. Within 2 years of being open, we won the Food Network Competition Cupcake Wars! This love of cupcakes started when the founder was just in third grade. Molly was his third grade teacher, and whenever there was a special occasion, she would make her special recipe cupcakes for her students. As John grew older, Molly’s care for her students never left his mind. He decided to open Molly’s Cupcakes in her memory. As our company has grown, so has our love for helping others create lasting memories.

Welcome to Molly's Cupcakes! Ms. Molly was my third-grade teacher. Whenever my classmates or I had a birthday, she would bake us cupcakes. She had her special recipe for chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. In honor of Molly and as a way to help our kids and community, a portion of our profits is donated directly to schools in our community. I made my first fondant two tier cake for my son’s 3rd birthday. I honestly did it because I did not know of anyone at the time who would create a cake like that for me. I did not know that doing that one cake would begin a new journey for me.
