DJ Jay Murch was the best and easiest to work with from the very beginning. He was super clear about the process and even provided an app that allows you to plan all the music details for your big day, step by step. Jay took it even one step further and he assisted me with the processional, recessional, reception and ceremony coordination. He is super knowledgeable and really can help recommend songs and shape your wedding day playlist. He had my dancefloor on fire and we loved every second of it! I also booked a photobooth with On The Beat Fx which was a huge hit. I would recommend DJ Jay again and again and again!!!

If there’s one thing you should take away from this review, it is this - You should DEFINITELY hire Herbert Holler to DJ your wedding! From the very first phone call, it was obvious that he is someone who loves his job. He has an extensive knowledge and love of music means no matter what you want the soundtrack of your wedding or event to be, he’s got you and your guests of ALL ages covered. He was communicative, easy to work with, clearly invested in making sure we had a great time at our wedding, and that everything ran as smoothly as possible. In fact, at one point, he noticed from behind the booth that we were one man short for lifting someone up in the chair during our extensive Hora. So what did he do? He put his headphones down, ran onto the dance floor, and kept the party going! As a musician and music lover myself, it was hard to trust someone else with the evening’s setlist, but we are so glad we did. He was super keyed into the dance floor, and read the crowd like an expert, always knowing exactly what song to serve up. We danced our aes off and could not have had a better evening. We even rented one of his lighting packages, which he set up to perfection. Herbert, thank you for helping us with our live performances, and for giving us such an incredibly memorable night!!

Our wedding harpist, Terrease Aiken, was an absolute dream come true! From the start, she was incredibly organized and timely, making the whole process seamless. Her willingness to incorporate our personal song choices into her repertoire was a beautiful and meaningful touch. Her attentiveness and responsiveness in the months leading up to the wedding were truly exceptional. On the big day, she surpassed ALL expectations!! Her performance was nothing short of magical, and our guests can't stop raving about her talent and unique style. She added a level of enchantment that made our special day truly unforgettable. My sister had a guitarist at her wedding and recommended that I do the same. To change it up, I had a harpist. We both had terrific experiences with Sweet Harmony. I've been recommending them to everyone! It's a beautiful way to add a little something extra to any event.

I loved Chantal Music! Carla was a delight to work with throughout the entire process. She was responsive, fun, engaging, and listened closely to what we wanted. It honestly felt like talking to a friend more than it felt like talking to a vendor. The players on the day were amazing and clearly very talented. I couldn't recommend them more highly. Very talented, excellent customer service, and extremely easy tow work with!

Monica Re Martin

5.0

New York, NY
  • Solo performer

Monica Re Martin is a in-demand NYC violinist, violist and strings arranger - and the perfect contractor for your wedding! Monica performs regularly on Broadway, with the NYC Ballet, and with top artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Kygo. She can be seen playing weddings on TV shows like "Summer House" and "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." Monica is available as a solo violinist, both acoustic and electric, and as an instrumental duo, string trio, or string quartet.

I hired Monica and her quartet to play during our wedding cocktail hour! Monica was professional throughout and communicated really well with me from the moment I booked her to the day of the wedding! She offered to arrange songs for me that may not be on her very comprehensive list. We requested pop songs on strings and the vibe was perfect! I would highly recommend booking Monica to contract and play at your wedding!

What music packages are available for weddings in New York City?

Whether you want a string quartet to serenade your ceremony, a 12-piece band, or a DJ to drop beats until dawn, there's a package for every style and budget in New York City. The music package will vary depending on the group, number of performers, hours played, and more, so make sure to review all of the details in advance to ensure the soundtrack to your wedding plays without a hitch.

How do we coordinate our wedding timeline with the band or DJ in New York City?

Communication is key. Your band or DJ should be in sync with your wedding day schedule, hitting the right notes at the right moments. Discuss your timeline with them beforehand, and they'll make sure they play the right notes at exactly the right time - whether it’s your walk down the aisle or your favorite bangers at the end of the night.

Are there any noise restrictions for wedding venues in New York, NY that could affect music?

Now, that’s a savvy question! In a city that never sleeps, some venues do still have bedtime rules. Fear not, because your wedding planner or venue contacts will be clued in on any noise ordinances. They’ll make sure the party's volume matches the vibe—without the need for noise-canceling headphones.

What equipment do bands and DJs in NYC provide, and what do we need to provide?

Most bands and DJs come loaded with their mixers, mics, and maybe some flashy lights. But it's a good idea to check if your venue is set up for sound or if it's BYOS—bring your own speakers. You might need to rent some equipment if you’re planning a party in a raw or less traditional event space.
