I was introduced to the world of photography the same week I was introduced to the world! All thanks to my Dad, who was never without his camcorder or camera. Because of him, our memories growing up are preserved. Then I got my first camera + tons of film. I documented everything. When film turned into digital, that was a turning point in my life. Since then, my memories, large + small, have been organized on my computer, by year. So I can go back + revisit so many wonderful memories from my life...most which I wouldn't remember without pictures!

For as long as I can remember I have always loved to create. My passion for photography started when I was a teen. As I honed in on my craft I began to photograph on a more professional level right out of high school, but stepped away for academic pursuits. After completing both a bachelors and master's degree in Anthropology, I came full circle, determining that a career in doing something creative was where my heart lies. Whether it is your wedding, or any other special moment in your life, I cherish the opportunity to document it in a way that highlights the artistic elements, while still capturing an authenticness that is uniquely you.

Soon after Juan and Emily got married in 2018 Juan began his photography career as a light technician in LA. Juan studied journalism for his undergrad, and this is when he was gifted his first camera and his interest in photography was sparked. Emily's childhood dream was to be a photographer, and after working for years as an ICU nurse she is able to do just that alongside Juan. We are energized by the creativity that photography brings, and the light and joy we experience from meeting couples.

I resonate with intimate, honest weddings, ones that present as unique and authentic, ones with tradition but they threw that tradition out the door and made their day an authentic representation of their marriage. As an artist, I am able to document weddings while incorporating my own artistic visions and yours. I love natural light, nature, and intimate moments. I shot my first wedding July 2007 on eight days notice for a family friend. It was exhilarating. I fell in love with documenting and creating memories for my first bride and groom, Nicki & Jay. They loved my work. I found my professional calling. In 2009, I opened the business and started officially offering my services as a professional Atlanta wedding photographer. Since then, I’ve prided myself on caring about your special day more than any other vendor participating in your wedding.

In 2013 we decided to start Terry James Photography, Terry left his full time job to pursue his photography passion full time. Since then we have managed to keep raising the bar with wedding photography and cinematography and grew our business significantly winning multiple awards every single year. We are based in South Florida but travel to all US destinations and worldwide.
