I have so many fond memories as a child involving flowers. Following my mother around as she carefully tended her gardens. My paternal grandmother painstakingly digging up her daffodil bulbs to bring them with her from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. My mother digging up and dividing her irises that had been in her own mother’s garden growing up. Give me the smell of lilac and I can recall every spring cutting large clumps from my neighbors’ yard to give to my teachers. Give me the smell of a garden rose and I am immediately transported back to my maternal grandparents’ house in the summer.

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

    5.0

    Oklahoma City, OK
    • Serves Salem, NH

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

I used Flower Moxie for our wedding florals and cannot recommend them enough. I started the process with them in August 2022 for our December 2022 wedding. There was a consultation with a florist, Cristen, who looked at my Pinterest and asked me a lot of questions to help understand my vision, budget, and what specific elements of my inspo photos I liked. She walked me through the flowers on the website that we’d use or rule out. A couple weeks later, she sent me a full “recipe” of all the flowers with a vision board image, as well as affordable suggestions of where to get supplies and what I would need. They definitely don’t push using their supplies exclusively. I decided to make some changes, specifically adding lighter colored roses, and she made some gorgeous suggestions that I was so thrilled with. I placed my order at the end of September. The Thursday before my Sunday wedding, we picked up the flowers from the airport and prep them, which was actually staggeringly easy. On Saturday, all my bridesmaids came over for a “build your own bouquet” party, which turned out to be ridiculously fun and not difficult at all! The videos and tips on the Flower Moxie website make it foolproof, especially since I liked a wilder look. We stuck everything in vases and trimmed and wrapped them on the day of the wedding. It was so, so easy and fun! The quality and customer service were 10/10, too. I had some proteas damaged in transit, and they gave me tips on how to remove leaves to fix the look. Otherwise, the flowers were perfect, super high quality, and looked GORGEOUS. I literally just got rid of the last of them, that’s how hard and long-lasting they were. The price was super reasonable for the quantity/quality received.

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

They did exactly what I wanted and they look just like real flowers. I actually ordered my bouquet a year in advance and it was still perfect come the wedding day. It makes me happy having it where I can keep it and cherish it forever without worrying about wilting.

We worked with Bloom Culture for our wedding and the process was easy and fun! Alison created beautiful flower recipes that were exactly what I pictured. The tutorial videos make the assembly process easy to follow and it was a lot of fun customizing the bouquets to my liking while using the flower formulas as a guide. The flowers were delivered in great condition and the flower guide helps you organize everything to make assembly easy. All you need are a few helpers and you are able to save a lot of money on flowers! I highly recommend Bloom Culture for DIY floral arrangements.

Harvest Moon Florals was incredible to work with for our intimate wedding ceremony at The Spring House on BI, RI. After we pivoted from our original Tuscany, Italy wedding plans and were lucky enough to be hosted by The Spring House family in June, I reached out to as many floral vendors (again) in the RI area. Trying to stay local (and on-island, a plus), also within a reasonable budget given our "micro" wedding, Harvest Moon actually came from a recommendation of someone I reached out to who wasn't available... and how lucky I was to have that happen. Ayla was responsive right from the beginning, we clicked! Since I had already a color palette, inspiration board, and some example arrangement pics - we dove right into the design proposal and budget. We shared some boards via Pinterest and had some email exchanges - and she just "got it." I tend to be indecisive - I had some email exchanges with other vendors before I found Ayla who I could tell would be difficult for me (threw me too many options of flowers, vases, colors all in separate emails) - Ayla was the opposite. She took what I started with and made my vision even better, brought it to life. The fact that she is so talented (not just with wedding arrangements, but also specialty flower farm!!) and sources strictly seasonally and locally from her farm and other local flower farms, blows me away. Then came our wedding day - A dear friend of mine was with us for our wedding as a favor (she's an incredibly talented event/wedding planner), she's been in the event business, had her own business, and even worked with florals for years. When Ayla was setting up the dining room and the table was complete my friend said "wait until you see your flowers, you are going to die." (getting tears even thinking about it!) The table was so beautiful - it was so us, the spirit of Italy but carried the feeling of that day. My bouquet -- INSANE, the most beautiful ivory garden roses I've ever seen - I can still smell their sweetness. The flowers were so beautiful - I wouldn't have changed a thing. I feel so lucky to have been surrounded by just our immediate family that day, it was perfect and Ayla and Harvest Moon will be part of our special day and memory forever! I can't wait to continue to watch her work. Thank you! xx
