During my time at school, Brooks Photography Institute, I studied multiple types of photography: fashion, commercial, food, nature, architecture, and portraiture. All of this experience has prepared me for bringing professionalism and creativity to every part of your day. I have photographed weddings for 10 years, during which time I learned the ins and outs of the industry. I have traveled to many countries, worked with celebrities and have been there to capture priceless moments for hundreds of people and their families. In 2014, I was recognized by Rangefinders Magazine as one of the 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography.

If it's your first time here, welcome! My name is Shannon Montgomery, and I am a California and travel photographer that specializes in traditional+timeless weddings and elopements. I am always up for a good hike, enjoy rainy overcast days, and will always stop to pet any dogs in reach! Working in the garden, getting to visit any possible farm animal (but especially cows), and walking barefoot make me happiest. I love seeing the beauty in things that have endured the test of time, seen across the challenges and storms, and still stand in their own kind of beauty today.

I have been photographing couples for nearly 10 years and have loved every minute of it. I have enjoyed following them through engagement, wedding, maternity and now family sessions. I have even become life long friends with some of them. I am a mother of 3 and have always loved art, and once I picked up my camera and found a way to tell others love stories, I knew I found what I was supposed to do.

The kind of work I do within the wedding photography genre is very distinct - every image stands on its own as a thoughtful composition as if from a cinematic art house film or high-end commercial/editorial shoot. My color grading is immediately identifiable and unique - developed through years of studying color theory - uncommon today in a sea of 'presets' that other photographers purchase on the internet for they have no knowledge of how to build their own. My compositions are often quirky, surprising, different. I always attempt to show a point of view that's uncommon and fascinating to the viewer.

I love freezing wedding days. I stay true to color, but add in a little warmth. I love documenting the day and getting in all the emotions. My favorite part of the entire day- grooms reaction to either his bride walking down the aisle or that first look. I'm also a sucker for dad first looks. Details are also so important, it's one of the biggest day of your lives and getting it all photographed is so very important!
