Caprice Rouge

An acoustic ensemble from the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York State playing Balkan, Roma-Gypsy and Klezmer dance tunes! Performing on traditional instruments including accordion, violin, bouzouki, gypsy jazz guitar, clarinet, and percussion, the band is happy to play for dancers, revelers, and listeners at taverns and cafes, festivals and farmers’ markets, at weddings and other celebrations!

Caprice Rouge highlights the winding scales and exotic melodies of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Our repertoire includes songs from Russia and south: Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey, and Greece. Drawing on styles from Romany (gypsy) musicians, Klezmers, Middle Eastern Bellydance and even Americana; we bring our own interpretations to these age-old tunes. We can be small and quiet or BIG and LOUD! Caprice Rouge has played gallery openings and theatrical productions; weddings, synagogue events and private parties; celebrations and festivals; big halls and small spaces, indoors and out! The band is agile and flexible.
