Skylark Music

Jesse and Justin have been playing music together since they met performing in a band at Disneyland in 2001. After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

Jesse and Justin pride themselves in their broad repertoire of styles from classical, to pop, to folk, to jazz. Between the two of them they play piano, guitar, banjo, sax, clarinet, flute, ukulele., and Justin is a great singer. Justin also loves stepping into the DJ/MC role for receptions, so they can provide music for the whole day. Also, their clients don't have to pay or deal with an agency. This makes them able to provide direct communication and lower pricing to all their couples.

    We hired Skylark for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music and were so happy with the quality of performance that was provided. We knew we wanted a live music component, but were working on a smaller budget, so Justin worked with us so to have a duo present for our ceremony and cocktail hour, followed by him serving as DJ for our reception. He was incredibly communicative, easy to work with, and took our personalities and interests into consideration when finalizing the playlists for our special day. We are so happy with Skylark, and can't recommend them enough!

    Justin was everything we wanted from our wedding DJ. He understood our needs (which were on the more low-key side of your typical wedding vibe) better than we did, and he got compliments from our guests both for his live music duo during cocktail hour and his DJing during the reception.     Justin & Jesse were amazing! We got married this past October at Blooming Hill Farm, and they made our wedding so special. We had Justin & Jesse play live music for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and then Justin DJ’ed our reception. Right from the start, Justin was incredibly easy to work and communicate with. We didn’t have a hyper-specific vision for our music and Justin was great at making recommendations but also allowing us to personalize things and make it more us. On the day of, they were punctual and so flexible - I think I sent my cut-off times for the first and parent dances the morning of the wedding! We got so many compliments on the live music, our guests were truly blown away by how talented they were. We had a very small wedding (20 people) and Justin was great at reading the mood on the dance floor. Our guests danced all night long! Can’t recommend these guys enough!

    One of the best decisions we made was hiring Skylark to play at our wedding. We wanted live music for the ceremony and cocktail hour but had a diverse range of music for the reception (reggaeton, pop, rock, salsa, etc.) that we felt would best be performed by a DJ. All of the music exceeded our expectations and Justin was so easy to work with. Everyone had a blast and all of the music flowed so well. Would absolutely recommend this group to anyone!
