Based in Brooklyn, self taught sugar artist Melissa Torres knows that there’s nothing like a gorgeous and delicious treat to take your party to the next level! With a commitment to using organic, fair trade ingredients, Cake Hero confections are beautiful and delicious delights that you can feel good about. Your purchase of a Cake Hero cake means that together, we are a force for good in our business and purchasing practices. We extend this way of thinking to our packaging, and use recycled boxes and paper whenever possible. Melissa’s unique take on cake has caught the eye of Vogue, New York Magazine, and many stylish events in NYC & beyond.

A cake is a sweet and magical way to mark a new beginning and to share a special moment with loved ones. It is with that in mind that Melissa has chosen to focus on Fair Trade ingredients, the purchase of which support the environment, as well as the fair and ethical payment and treatment of farmers who produce many baking essentials.     While there are many cakes to choose from, we couldn't have been happier with ours from Cake Hero. Naturally, Melissa is a sweetheart (she can probably make one, too) and a pleasure to work with. She's bright, punctual, easy to communicate with, and has an acute attention to detail. Melissa makes sure you will not have to worry about the cake on your big day. From our first conversation to delivery, she had it covered. We could not have been happier with our wedding cake, and have the sugar cherry blossoms displayed on our bookshelf as a daily reminder of our love for each other, and the sweet leftovers in the freezer. We HIGHLY recommend working with Melissa to make your wedding cake dreams come true!!!!

    We loved working with Melissa to achieve the look and taste we wanted for our beautiful wedding cakes! We wanted multiple, coordinated cakes, all of different flavors and colors, and Melissa delivered a quartet that exceeded even what we were hoping for! Our cakes were featured in Vogue magazine under the heading "The Confectionary Equivalent to Couture" which was really fun to see. Melissa uses all organic and fair trade ingredients, which is an added bonus. Best of all, she's a stellar human who makes you feel happy and cared for.

    Working with Melissa of Cake Hero is a dream! She bakes the most incredible custom cakes (and cookies), impeccably designed and perfectly tailored to her clients' events and personalities, and they're also the most delicious cakes I've ever tasted. I would recommend her work in a heartbeat!

    True story -- when people first came up to the reception area from the separate space where we held cocktail hour to find their seat at our wedding, everyone immediately rushed to see Melissa's beautiful cake. I have photos of a huge crowd gathered around the cake, everyone's phone was out taking pictures as if this was a celebrity sighting or something! People literally had to be told several times to get to their seats because they were literally in awe of the amazing cake. The cake also tasted incredibly delicious, and the buttercream frosting was a huge hit. Melissa really goes out of her way to create incredibly intricate and magical designs and it's something we will remember for the rest of our lives! Her and her husband also delivered the cake to our venue directly and even got in touch directly with our venue contact weeks in advance to coordinate. They were super organized and knew just how to handle everything. Plus she uses all fair trade ingredients so you will actually be contributing to sustainable agriculture.
