Lead Floral Designer

A Lily Among Thorns is a floral design studio in Northern New Jersey. Isabel’s love for flowers stemmed from a young age, as she was often found picking wild flowers barefoot. After receiving her bachelor's degree in English Language Arts, her second love, she found that there was even more poetry to be found in the flowers she had always loved. Now, she works in wedding and event floral design with a limited amount of couples a year.

Her source of inspiration are these same wildflowers and the way that they grow: perfectly imperfect. She is often found beaming upon discovering a stem with a unique bend or a bloom that effortlessly floats. As a result, her work reflects movement and dimension to create an overall organic design. Although cut flowers are an ephemeral medium, Isabel finds the fragility of flowers to make them all the more captivating. She seeks to inspire others by honoring nature’s unapologetic poetry for life’s most joyful celebrations.

    Isabel is an incredible florist and person - we could not recommend her more! From start to finish, working with Isabel was a joy and she brought so much positive energy to every conversation we had. Even at the proposal stage, her materials were super polished and she was so kind in taking time to explain her process and listen to what I was looking for. The level of collaboration throughout the planning process was a dream, it seemed like no question was too small and no ask was too big. It was so nice to have a creative partner like Isabel and she helped us find solutions that worked within our budget and style preferences. I felt super heard and Isabel always had our best interests at heart when guiding us through decisions. And on our big day everything was so beautifully put together, and Isabel was even flexible enough to accommodate some last minute changes to the weather plan. We are so so happy with how Isabel helped create the most beautiful mood and florals for our wedding!

    Isabel was absolutely incredible to work with. She listened intently to every single one of our notes and wishes, was so responsive and communicative, professionalism couldn’t be beat and so incredibly talented. When the day came, I was shocked at her and her teams execution. She took note of every tiny thing I said and incorporated it perfectly. She made the wedding planning process so enjoyable and seamless. I couldn’t recommend our experience working with her more. Our venue at the Prospect Park Boathouse had a very tight install window and they executed fabulously. If you want unmatched professionalism and stunning design go with A Lily Among Thorns.

    Isabel, her team, and her work are unparalleled, to say the least!! There a plethora of florist options in the NYC area, but Isabel stands out for SO many reasons! Her creativity, passion, and commitment to creating unique designs, while also being incredibly thoughtful, supportive, and professional throughout the entire process make her the absolute best. We our guests couldn't have been more blown away by the gorgeous ambiance she created. We were obsessed to say the least, which is why so many people ended up taking flowers, which represented a little piece of the beauty of the day home with them. I'm looking for ANY excuse to work with her again!
