Hi! My name is Hannah Jan Schillinger and I’m the owner and lead photographer of Hannah Jan Photo. I grew up in Westchester, New York and graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in Art History. My education in fine art trained me to observe and see the beauty in the everyday. This background guides me to not only capture authentic moments, but gave me a curated eye and ability to document the personality of couples and the spirit of their love celebrations.

I never planned to be a wedding photographer. In fact, I didn’t consider it an option. I thought wedding photos could only be done one way. The moment I realized they could be unique unposed works of art, it all clicked for me. My interest in the non-traditional, history, and art allow me to approach weddings from a place of openness and creativity. I love to document the unique spirit of love, community, and celebration. Whether you are throwing the rulebook out the window or maintaining meaningful traditions it is my great joy to capture you for who you truly are!

    Hannah's talent in the frame is matched by her presence on the day. No fewer than 5x throughout our big day did I think to myself, wow Hannah is crushing it. The results were beyond expectation. 11/10, wouldn't wedding again without Hannah

    Hannah was such a wonderful wedding photographer! We started planning our wedding from abroad, and Hannah was great about communication. She responded to emails quickly and contacted us at multiple points to check in. We never had to worry about a thing! Her questionnaires were extremely helpful for getting us to think about the most important parts of our day and what we wanted to remember. We're not usually natural in front of the camera, but Hannah made us feel comfortable and have fun before the ceremony during our getting ready and first look shots. Hannah was prompt about sending preview photos right after the wedding and following up with our beautiful full gallery right on time. We were thrilled with the photos, and she made everyone look good. Even though we had an extremely sunny day that must have made photography difficult, Hannah still managed to capture the ceremony beautifully. The family portraits are beautiful and the photos from the reception, dinner, and dancing are the exact natural photography that we were looking for. We can't recommend her highly enough.

    Hannah's photography is magical! My fiancé and I did an engagement shoot with her in Central Park, and despite the early hours and super hot weather, Hannah was personable, kind, and so much fun to work with! We were so lucky to have been recommended her by a friend, and found that the entire experience was seamless--she knew tons of hidden gems in the park to take us, provided a guide in advance to take the stress out of finding something to wear, and the whole thing flew by so quickly! Within weeks we had the full album of photos and I am STILL in awe at how amazing they turned out! We can't thank Hannah enough and I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for natural, artistic and beautiful photography.

    Hannah was an amazing photographer from start to finish. Not only was she extremely organized and extremely responsive she had a very very solid process in place and it made us, a pair of neurotic newlyweds, feel completely at ease. She takes really amazing candid shots as well as is really good at giving direction when you want a photo that is more composed. Her flexibility also helps us relax especially given the day itself so hectic. The most incredible part is really actually the fact that we didn’t meet her in person even until our wedding day due to Covid and she still did a stellar job & took the most amazing photos for us that we will definitely cherish for very long time to come.
