Jamaal (J. McKenzie) has been described as an ever-evolving romantic, a perfectionist and a serial creative. With a perspective deeply rooted in expressive art-forms such as musicianship & spoken word, Jamaal approaches every story with an unwavering respect and veneration for each moment. Bred in Brooklyn, New York and tempered in a variety of cities across the vast United States and South America, Jamaal brings a familiar, yet fine-tuned touch, lodging echoes of that vastness in every image. Jamaal produces timeless visuals and agencies across the conduits of creative genres, exploring the roots of the emotions at the core of us all.
Jamaal doesn't see a Wedding as just a Wedding. It's a journey he takes with his couples and for as long as their images are with him, so are they. His couples become friends, and some have become family &, as with all relationships, as well as any type of creative passion, it requires consistency to survive - to grow. One of the many things respect teaches you, is patience. Taught to us as children; experienced as adults, we know what Respect is for a person - however, as a creative, you learn what it is to Respect a moment. Respecting a moment enough not to rush it, Respecting it enough to "Let it Breathe..."

A Compassionate Masterful Photographer
The search for photographers can be quite tiring, but I'm so glad that I didn't quit until I found Jamaal! Jamaal leads and directs with empathy and masterful skill. While being photographed by Jamaal, you feel as if you're hanging with a friend. The images we received reminded us of what our day felt like, while also showing us creatively what our day looked like. If you haven't booked Jamaal, what are you waiting for?
Amazing!
That is how we would describe Jamaal's work! From the first consultation, he was very flexible and responsive to putting together a package that fit our needs. His sense of professionalism, yet amicable personality made it very comfortable to work with Jamaal. While taking the pics, he allowed us to just be ourselves, catching many candid shots so the photoshoot felt natural. He made us feel very comfortable throughout all the shoots we did. His finished products are stunning, not to mention he turns it around super fast!! From the 1st consultation all the way to the wedding day, he was always quick to respond and punctual to everything (true story: he showed up like 3hrs before so he could scope spots for our engagement shoot). We will surely use Visuals by J. McKenzie for any other future photography needs!! Thanks Jamaal!!!
Our First and Best CHoice!
I initially had first hand experience with Jamaal's work while being in a good friend's wedding last year. A this wedding Jamaal was great. He paid attention to detail, was prompt and on time, didn't need to be told to capture certain moments, etc. When it came time for my big day, I knew I had the perfect person in mind. My wife and I decided to go the conservative route and have a small wedding w/ reception dinner at a restaurant. However, based on our wedding photo sneak peaks that Jamaal provided after; you would think it was a bigger wedding that what it actually was! Which is exactly what we wanted. He captured every moment perfect. My wife and I are happy to have worked with J. and hope to use him in the future for whatever occasion we have coming up next! Thank you again J!
