Booking 2025. Limited 2024 dates left. Bluestem Farm's De Graslanden Barn is all vintage with a touch of modern. Built over 100 years ago, it's one of McHenry county's oldest dairy barns. The barn boasts two levels for your event plus an outdoor patio space. Surrounded by over 140 acres of prairie, the views are simply stunning. We all know the finer things are in the details, The barn is filled with original woodwork and hand-crafted details that you and your guests will enjoy. De Graslanden Barn

De Graslanden Barn is the main event space! Guests will enjoy all the original features of the barn with the modern amenities your guests expect.

The main barn features two levels of event space. Our lower level serves as cocktail hour space before your reception. Guest will transition upstairs into the loft for dinner and dancing. The lower level space is always open so guests can continue to enjoy the whole event space.

    I had my dream wedding at Bluestem Farm and events and it so special and unique. Kelly (wedding venue owner) was willing to take on title of our “wedding planner” just less than a month away from our wedding because previous wedding planner unfortunately didn’t meet expectations. She was our saving grace. She was so responsive, flexible, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the whole process but especially when we made the decision to have her as our wedding planner. My wedding day was so smooth and seamless and I cannot be more grateful for her. The venue itself was perfect for ceremony and reception. We received so many compliments about how beautiful the venue was. The prairie reserve behind us during our ceremony was breathtaking during our September wedding because the field looks like gold- it was my favorite view! The venue is perfect and the owner is even better to work with!

    Booking Bluestem farm & Kelly Happ as the venue of our wedding was one of the best choices we made. Not only is the venue absolutely gorgeous, clean, and well maintained, but working with Kelly was seamless. She took the time to get to know us and iron out the details of our day to make it go as perfectly as possible. I would recommend this venue to anyone. So many of our guests complimented us on our wedding venue and I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

    When my husband and I found Bluestem Farms, we were blown away by how much charm this barn has. The interior is so romantic, cozy, and rustic and although we couldn’t stop talking about the main floor of the barn, we kept talking about the bathrooms of all things! The cutest bathrooms around! When we met with Kelly for the first time, she answered all of our questions. The barn has an elevator in case anyone needs it, and when I told her how I have an autistic cousin who might be coming, she knew exactly where he could go if he needed to step away. Fast forward to a month before the wedding, Kelly had everything organized and worked with me to get my perfect timeline. She had a lot of furniture for free that we could use the day of too which adds to the character of the barn. The day of was more than I could have ever dreamed of. The shuttle that we used for our guests was running late and I didn’t know a thing until afterwards. Kelly handled all little things so I did not have to deal with any of it. If I could re-do this day all over again, there is 1 thing I am 100% certain on, and that is picking Bluestem all over again.
