This historic rhododendron farm-turned-modern mountain "micro resort," tucked inside the charming town of Highlands, boasts spectacular lake and mountain views that are utterly gorgeous in all seasons. You'll find no shortage of dreamy celebration and photo spots—throughout the farm's 30 acres, you'll find countless lovely features, including a lake, a babbling creek, shady pastures, and a collection of beautifully rustic log outbuildings. After exchanging vows, retreat to the elegant, Scandinavian-style luxury re-designed barn for dining and dancing. Let the upscale on-site cabins serve as your relaxing home base, fully equipped with gourmet kitchens, designer-styled common areas, and a stylish, woodsy-inspired vibe, with plenty of space for up to 27 of your nearest and dearest. The Barn

For the discerning couple craving an intimate, exclusive micro resort… Immerse your guests in a mountain luxury experience...

The vintage Amish barn was brought down from Pennsylvania and reconstructed here on-site decades ago. Owners, Margaret and Chris Shutze, recently modernized the venue with a large stone fireplace that is the focal point of the room. The large industrial windows and expansive covered deck overlooks the rhododendron forest. The space features four (4) beautifully appointed powder rooms for guest use.

    My husband and I settled on our happy place, Highlands, NC as the perfect location to get married. We stumbled upon Flat Mountain Farm & immediately fell in love with the property. Our ceremony was small & included all of our closest friends and family members. No matter what season you decide to get married, this property will be STUNNING. The owners, Margaret and Chris, have a beautiful story and unique professional background. Margaret has thought of absolutely everything to deliver a magical experience. There is so much charm on every foot of the property- if you're looking for a destination wedding that allows you to stay ON SITE, this is IT! Each place to stay (The Wren, The Kingfisher, The Peregrine) have the most thoughtful touches & elevated views. The design of each space is detailed, classy, & has tons of personality. Margaret allows her guests to "personalize" their wedding experience so that each wedding or event planned is truly one of a kind. Celebrate outside by the pond, inside the restored barn, or by a waterfall! The versatility of the property makes planning an event so much more memorable! We loved our experience & our friends have not stopped talking about it. Don't even get us started on the sunset photo opportunities... your pictures will be absolutely breathtaking!
