About this venue

Homewood, a special event venue in Asheville, NC, is an ideal destination for rehearsal dinners, weddings, receptions, and gatherings. Homewood is a beautifully restored 1920s stone manor located in Asheville's post-Victorian historic district of Montford. The elegant castle was originally built as a private home. The elegance of the 1920s luminesces from original wrought iron chandeliers and alabaster sconces, casting graceful lighting from the 20-foot ceilings of the Great Room to the original hardwood floors, cherry walls, and grand Appalachian stone fireplaces. Conveniently located within a mile of downtown Asheville, Homewood offers 200 free, designated parking spaces, and is located in a neighborhood setting. The Great Room seats 110 people for dinner, or up to 150 with cocktail seating, with space for dance floor and DJ or band. Homewood is fully handicap-accessible. The beautiful and lush surrounding grounds provide additional outdoor space, including our garden ceremony site.

We loved our experience getting married at Homewood! The venue is absolutely breathtaking and has everything you need right on site. Homewood and their coordination service Carolina Love Events were professional, kind, efficient, and genuinely lovely to work with.

Homewood truly is a gorgeous venue; however, they force you to work with specific vendors including large expense vendors such as catering and a wedding coordinator through Carolina Love Events. So while the cost seems low for the venue itself, keep in mind that you are bound to a list of certain vendors. Throughout the planning process a wedding coordinator was admittedly nice to have, although it was not cheap for the amount of work they would actually do. The experience I had with my "day-of-coordinator", Kristy, was also unbelievably poor to the point of over 15 guests, not including the wedding party, complaining to my husband and I about her attitude and lack of professionalism throughout the entirety of our wedding and the days following. Kristy also allowed all of our guests to see me in my wedding dress BEFORE the ceremony began by welcoming guests into the room I was knowingly in. There was no effort to have me run up to the bridal suite, as stated in their carefully curated timeline for the night. Once I addressed this, amongst other concerns, to Carolina Love Events and Homewood, I was told that this hasn't happened to anyone before so it could not have happened to me. I waited a week for their response to my concerns to be taken so lightheartedly. Homewood also offered extended time in the bridal suite for over 100/hour. We were happy to pay this so I could get ready with my girls at the venue; however, Homewood failed to inform me that the furnace was out and the suite would fluctuate between 50-55 degrees, even with space heaters. I don't understand not informing us that the room would be freezing or even addressing it in the response when I brought it up. My mom and bridesmaids were shivering trying to get hair and make-up done, and my 3-year-old niece couldn't even be in the room because the frigid temperatures (when it's snowing and below freezing outside) were too dangerous. This was disregarded by both Homewood and Carolina Love Events via an email response to my concerns. So with all of this, I cannot with a good heart recommend Homewood as a wedding venue as long as they are requiring you to work with Carolina Love Events. The wedding was pulled off by the gracious help from my photographer, caterers, and dj when Homewood and Carolina Love Events, but specifically Kristy, dropped the ball on the coordinating aspect. It really is such a shame, as Homewood has such a stunning atmosphere and history. It has the potential to be a gem of a wedding venue in Western NC, but my experience with their required vendors and poor response to my concerns has brought 5 stars down to 2. To worsen this, they responded to my google review saying they were working on a response before my review; however, I emailed them with my concerns a week ago now. I also received the email from the wedding coordinating business they require/work closely with and was told it could not happened to me, since it hasn’t happened to anything else, and that they would not be doing anything. Homewood was included in this email chain.
