Originally when we were engaged, my now husband and I wanted a winter wedding in Denver, Colorado. We moved from NYC during the pandemic and wanted to give our friends and family a destination wedding experience since most would be coming in from out of town. While starting to look for Denver venues, I found Juniper Mountain House on Instagram in a post about micro weddings during the pandemic. We looked at many other venues, but there was so much about Juniper I couldn’t get out of my head. I pitched the idea to my partner since I knew because Juniper is outside, we would have to shift to a summer wedding, and we agreed to do a venue tour and book a night in one of their rooms to test it out. On our tour, led by one of the incomparable owners Alea, we went on a small hike through the woods and into a clearing with twinkle lights, and I immediately got emotional, something that hadn’t come close to happening looking at all of the many other wedding venues we had been touring. When we stayed the night about a month later, we sat in the hot tub under the mountain stars and talked about all of the downsides - there were only 5 rooms, it’s almost entirely outdoors, there is no kitchen, there is no parking so we’d have to figure out transportation for all of our guests, it can only accomodate 50 people max. All of those stipulations were very different from what we had initially started looking for, but the magic of Juniper kept telling my gut this was it, and I’ll be forever grateful we booked them for our August 2023 wedding! In the planning process, we got to know the owners Alea and her wife Ashley, and Juniper Mountain House’s undefinable magic is entirely due to these incredible people who got married themselves on their property. Another amazing perk of Juniper is that it comes with a planner 60 days out, so for someone like me who wanted to plan most of my wedding myself but then turn that over once it was closer, this was the perfect scenario. The McArthur Weddings and Events team was incredible, and because they do all of the Juniper weddings, they know the ins and outs of the property and it’s uniqueness and were instrumental for us in figuring out how to make everything work the best it could. Then the actual wedding - it’s hard to put into words how perfect it was. Walking through the woods in my dress and catching a glimpse of everyone who I love most in this world under twinkle lights is something I’ll remember forever. In classic Colorado summer fashion, it started raining mid ceremony, but somehow that just made everything more special and grounded and sparkly. We danced the night away on the beautiful deck and nearly every guest came up to tell us that this was the best and most unique wedding they had ever been to. It was intimate and unusual and laid back and fun and I couldn’t dream a better day if I tried. Part of why we picked Juniper is we wanted some place that we could come back to year after year, and I’m so so lucky that we picked this slice of heaven in the mountains.

Neither my husband, nor I, are from Colorado (surprise!) but we met here and wanted to have a wedding with the community we’ve built here and our closest friends and family from our respective homes. We also knew we wanted to give our guests a unique, Colorado experience without them having to travel too far from the airport. Juniper Mountain House provided everything we wanted (and more)! We got married there this past April (2023). We had a 50-person wedding with half of our guests coming from out-of-state. Our ceremony was supposed to be held in the Meadow but an unexpected snow storm forced us to shift everything the morning of to the Deck. Honestly, I was worried about the comfort of our guests but Juniper provided such a beautiful setting especially with the snow-covered evergreen trees surrounding everything it was easy to forget how cold it was. Alea and Ashley helped our planner set up and switch everything from the ceremony to the reception during cocktail hour. We couldn't have pulled this event off without them. The heaters on the deck helped keep everyone cozy and moving the dancing indoors provided such a fun, intimate feel to the whole wedding. We loved every minute of it. Throughout our year of planning, Alea and Ashley were quick to answer questions and provided thoughtful vendor recommendations. The rooms at Juniper were very nice and cozy. All our guests have just raved about this beautiful, unique choice of venue.

When my wife and I got engaged - we knew we wanted to have a small wedding somewhere outdoors. My wife stumbled upon Juniper Mountain House and we instantly knew it was the venue for us. Not only is the venue itself absolutely stunning, Ashley and Alea are incredible. It was very important to us to make sure we had a LGBTQ affirming venue, and we got that and then some. We could not have felt more comfortable on our wedding day. Every single aspect of working with JMH was a dream. We live in Missouri, but Ashley and Alea made it so easy to coordinate our details from out of state. They are so friendly and so insanely accommodating. Our wedding was more than we could have ever hoped for. If you are looking for a venue with stunning scenery, a diversity affirming atmosphere, and an incredible team of women to work with - Juniper is the one. We will remember our wedding for the rest of our lives, and we are already trying to plan a trip back.

We recently got married at Juniper Mountain House on April 2, 2022. We could not be happier with the way the wedding turned out and the amazing hospitality from Alea and Ashley. We met Alea and Ashley in the summer of 2021 when we were looking at the venue. After chatting with Alea and having such a good time we knew we had to get married at Juniper Mountain House - not only is it one of (if not, the most in my opinion) the most beautiful venues in the state of Colorado but Alea and Ashley are the best hosts you could ask for. They made everything from planning the wedding, during the wedding, and post wedding so easy and seamless. During the wedding, all Juniper Mountain House staffing was incredibly friendly and really made our wedding day even that much better. Prior to our wedding they had a very large task at hand, finishing the deck and adding the covered patio. Not only did they finish it in time but it looked absolutely amazing. We could not be any happier with our wedding at Juniper Mountain House and plan on staying there every chance we get.
