About this venue

The Marigny Opera House, alone in its rustic beauty and authentic New Orleans charm, is a special place that values both preservation and progress. A solar-paneled roof shelters newly restored stained glass windows in this decommissioned 1853 German Catholic Church. When you plan an event here, your patronage enables us to continue supporting local artists through our highly successful nonprofit arts programming. We are home to a ballet company, 2-3 weekly music performances, and numerous other culture bearers of New Orleans, from theatre to opera and beyond. You bolster the vibrant arts landscape we have endeavored to offer New Orleans and those who call it home. With your support, you join us in the mission of bringing the arts to all. We hope you bring your event here and give your guests an authentic New Orleans experience unlike any other.

Indoor

A decommissioned 1853 church-flooded with natural light and filled with rustic charm-gives colorful tile, stained glass, wood, and vaulted ceilings.

Marigny Opera House has 2 entrances: on Saint Ferdinand Street (front, non-accessible) and Dauphine Street (side, accessible with ramp). While we do offer free use of our cushioned red chairs and black folding chairs, it is a raw space. We welcome you to bring in your own vendors but also have a list you can consult as a guide. With advance notice/planning and tech fees, we can use our in-house lighting to create a dazzling display for your event. We have free street parking around the building.

Multi-day packages to be evaluated by staff.

    Bill and the team at Marigny Opera House were a breeze to work with! He was very thorough and responsive when we had any questions and his spirit in general was so kind. We wanted a venue with true New Orleans history and beauty, and the MOH provided that no matter if we were out front, inside, or in the courtyard. If you're looking for a venue outside of the Quarter, we HIGHLY recommend. Our guests were very impressed, and we can't wait to return to experience some of their performing arts shows.
