Mountain Shadows Retreat is the ultimate anti-venue for the modern couple. Located on three private acres overlooking the American River Canyon, our secluded property is the perfect setting to celebrate, escape, and create priceless memories that will last a lifetime. Featuring a luxury interior and breathtaking views, we provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding weekend. A stunning private venue, Mountain Shadows offers you and your loved ones a chance to unwind, connect, and experience inspiration in nature. All events are custom-tailored to meet your specific goals and desires; if you can dream it, we can make it happen. All wedding packages include hosting 15-26 guests on-site and up to 50 additional guests at Miner's Camp, our sister property that is located within walking distance. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding experience, Mountain Shadows can help design an unforgettable experience for your special day.

Mountain Shadows does not have packages or menu's like traditional locations. We now allow some groups to split weekends and stay for (2) nights total. Otherwise we are 3-4 nights Experience. Shadow's groups eat whatever they want, drink whatever they want, and host their friends and family however they want. Shadow's does not do food, beverage, or rentals. It's all about spending quality time with friends and family. NOT the in and out experience. The Anti Venue experience.

Absolutely Beautiful Wedding
We attended a wedding March 2 & 3. My experience at Mountain Shadows was absolutely phenomenal! It's tucked away in the picturesque mountains of Foresthill and the ambiance is simply stunning, providing the perfect backdrop. The accommodations were top-notch, offering modern comfort with a touch of rustic charm. The attention to detail from the staff was impeccable, ensuring that every aspect of the wedding was flawless. If you're looking for a venue that lets you truly customize your wedding and one that delivers on ambiance, definitely look at Mountain Shadows.
Unique Wedding Experience With Breathtaking Views
Mountain Shadows Retreat isn't JUST a wedding/event venue. It's an experience. As a wedding vendor, couples often tell us that their number one priority for their wedding day is their and their guests' experience. Mountain Shadows provides just that -- a unique experience where couples and their guests get to celebrate and relax while enjoying each other's company (not just for a 10-12 hour day like normal venues, but an extended weekend). This is what truly makes Shadows special. The accommodations are not only amazing and top notch, but thoughtful as well. There are several spaces to hold your event and each space offers a breathtaking view of nature. As guests, you truly feel like Shadows is your home away from home.
Married in the mountains
With most weddings or events, you always feel like you spend the whole year planning, then it goes by in the blink of an eye because you only had the one day to celebrate. At Mountain Shadows, because we were there three days we were able to truly connect. The house is spacious enough to where everyone feels like they all have their own areas, but just the right size to feel close. The view is a show stopper! We also went wine tasting (about 30 mins away) one of the days we were there and had a party bus pick us up which put the cherry on top of the event. Brian and the staff are super responsive and you’ll feel taken care of every step of the way. Friends in our group have decided, wedding or not, this will be an every year occasion.
