About this venue

Established in October of 2017, Pretentious is the first brewery in Columbus to specialize exclusively in barrel-aged sour ales. Our extensive knowledge of the symbiotic relationship between beer and wood results in consistent, quality sours. By manufacturing a wide range of beer along the sour spectrum, our consumers can ease their way into this unique style. Our goal is to produce award-winning sours that change people’s perspectives regarding craft beer. Our taproom is the perfect intimate setting for craft beer enthusiasts, sour savants, and anyone looking for that rustic and industrial look for their wedding.

Our intimate loft space!

The Parlour is typically reserved for small receptions of 20 or less. Guests can reserve that space to get ready pre-event, hold personal items, or just as a quiet intimate space for you and your entourage to hang out as needed.

    We are thrilled with our experience at Pretentious Barrel House! We fell in love with the look of the the Barrel Room and we got so many positive comments from guests on how cool and unique the venue was. The Parlour was a perfect space for our wedding party to have a place to chill after the ceremony and make our big entrance for the reception. Josh and his team made sure everything ran smoothly from the start of the planning process to the Big Day. We made some wonderful memories and we stop by often to enjoy one of their delicious sour beers!

    Pretentious Barrel House was the perfect place for our wedding reception! We provided a playlist for them and Jared, who was running the events at the time, so kindly DJ’d for us! The bartenders were fun and engaging! The string lights and barrels created a cozy environment for us and our guests! Highly recommend!
