About this venue

Your hosts, Matt and KellyAnn, here! We met in San Diego and have always been drawn to saltwater. We left in the exploration of more things wild: mountains to climb, waters to kayak, trails to run, perspectives to encounter. We spent 3 years on the road, living out of our car and exploring North America’s public lands and communities, stumbling upon spaces, places, and people who inspired us and ultimately sharpened the pencil that created Salted Roots. Seward won our hearts, with mountains, the ocean, and a national park right in our backyard. Alaska is wild - wild enough for us vagabonds to settle down roots… and then naturally the idea for Salted Roots sprouted. We bought the land in 2017, were married there shortly after, and began throwing together our future plans for the project with close friends. Our community helped us clear the land, build our website and make our vision a reality.

Description

There is no place we’d rather spend a wholesome winter weekend than in our quaint town of Seward. We’ve teamed up with other local businesses to offer: a two night hideaway at Salted Roots, with a private yoga class, CBD-infused massage, a locally-sourced rose-infused beauty cream, and a hand-curated charcuterie board to share. My husband and I rented out the property for our August wedding, and it was the most perfect day we could have had. All of our guests loved the cabins, they were so well designed and the surrounding scenery is gorgeous. Rain or shine it was the best location for a wedding. The Salted Roots team was incredibly helpful and very attentive with all the questions I had while planning an out of state wedding. Highly recommend!!!

Finding the right location to tie the knot can be a stressful situation, but we had zero regrets with choosing Salted Roots! We rented the entire property for our wedding weekend. The cabins were perfect for hosting our wedding party, providing a lovely getaway feel, tucked away in the beautiful trees, while still having modern comforts. The A-frames were spacious enough to entertain for our rehearsal dinner. We used little to no decoration around the property as it was already so naturally beautiful; great for photos both inside and out! While Salted Roots has a lovely setup for an intimate ceremony on the beach side, we were set on having our ceremony directly on the beach at low tide. Since the property is towards the end of the road, we felt like we had the place to ourselves even with it being a public beach. We had seals, otters, and even a rainbow appear in the backdrop of our ceremony instead...not saying it's guarantee but magic seems to happen here ;) As if that was not enough, Matt and KellyAnn were AMAZING to work with! They were great at communicating and so eager to help us envision our day, whether by taking a tour (or two...or three....) about the property or discussing logistics. Some of the best and kindest people you will ever meet. We cannot wait to return again to reminisce on our surreal wedding weekend at Salted Roots.

Yes, food, alcohol, and decorations are all DIY/ BYOB.

On-site parking is limited. We have one parking space per cabin, plus one or two additional parking spaces. For larger parties, we suggest that additional guests reserve the surrounding Air BnBs on Lowell Point.

All four cabins have a staircase leading to the front door. Once inside of the cabins, the kitchen and bathroom are located on the main floor. In the Aframes, the master bedroom (with a king size bed) can be found on the main floor. A queen-size Murphy bed is available on the main floor of the cottages to avoid additional stairs.

We currently have 4 cabins, plus a sauna, custom fire pit orb, and private beach access with an outdoor beach platform. Our beachfront is still DIY - besides the walking path, arch, and platform – it is raw untouched beachfront, so we do not have easy access to electricity on the waterside if you are looking to host a group event there. We can provide overnight accommodation for up to 20 people.

Your reservation time begins at 11 AM on the day of check-in. Checkout is at 4 PM. A minimum stay of two nights is required for a full-property buyout. Additional nights can be added to either side of your reservation for 1 or more cabins.

A 50% down payment is due at the time of booking. The remainder of the payment is due on January 1st of the event-year. A full refund can be issued if cancellation is requested more than 60 days before the start of the event. Within 60 days of the event, a 50% refund will be issued. No refund is given for events cancelled less than two weeks in advance.

Most guests fly into the Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage. From there, depending on the time of year, it would be possible to rent a car or take a bus or train. For summertime guests, we would recommend to book transportation as far in advance as possible, as it can be limited.

We offer our four cabins along with private use of the sauna, firepit, and beachfront. Our space is ideal for micro-weddings of around 30 guests or less, although we have had maximum party sizes of 50 on the beachfront. All additional services (decor, catering, tent and table rental, sleep accommodation for >20, etc.) must be booked with a separate vendor. Please see our list of recommendations!
