About this venue

Just a short TWENTY minute drive south of Lynchburg, Avoca, the principal architectural landmark of the Town of Altavista, is an American Queen Anne-style house, designed by architect J.M.B. Lewis and built in 1901. Designated a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Avoca is the home site of Colonel Charles Lynch, Revolutionary War hero. On the of grounds of the Museum, enjoy your private event with the ambiance of the Avoca mansion and the original Revolutionary War era kitchen, as well as 18th century outbuildings. Avoca’s grounds also feature a restored Victorian Garden and the Donal and Nancy Dinwiddie Arboretum opened in 2007!

Victorian Garden for the Wedding of Your Dreams!

Separating the cabin and the mansion is our meticulously maintained lawn. The lawn is large enough to easily host a ceremony and reception of 200 people. Avoca's grounds feature a lovely, well-kept Victorian garden, an arboretum which covers a half acre of land, a covered pavilion and more at an amazing value.
