19Main
New Milford, CT
  • Up to 130 guests
  • Limited services
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $6,000

Constructed soon after the Great Fire of 1902, The United Bank Building was built to house two banks whose previous buildings had been destroyed, New Milford Savings Bank and the New Milford First National Bank. The two banks immediately organized to rebuild, quickly agreeing in principal to build a joint facility on the site of the New England House, a locally well known tavern and inn located at the corner of Bank and Main Street. For most of its life, the building had been used in some form of a bank, but had been largely under-used in recent decades, and had fallen into disrepair. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and taken over by Village Green Investments in 2015. After 9 months of renovations, the building became 19Main. Throughout renovations, we strived for modern amenities with historic elegance; three vaults remain from the building’s former bank days.

As a wedding photographer, I've had the pleasure of capturing love stories in some truly remarkable locations, but Black Walnut Farm in Saugerties, NY, stands out as an absolute gem. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the venue's authentic charm, breathtaking landscapes, and the genuine care of its owners, Sarah and Jim. Stepping inside, I was transported to another era, surrounded by weathered beams, warm lighting, and tasteful décor that highlighted the barn's history. It served as a perfect backdrop for intimate moments and romantic portraits, making every frame come alive with character. Adjacent to the barn, the stone house from the 1700s added a touch of enchantment to the wedding party experience. We had the best wedding at Union Station, and it was all thanks to Neil and his team. Before the wedding, he would always respond to my emails and questions, and was very accommodating with what we wanted. Anything we threw at him, he would make it work. He has such a calm presence, too, which is VERY needed on your wedding day! Robert was our personal right-hand man to me and my husband on our wedding day, and he was amazing!! He made sure we had time to ourselves amongst the chaos of the evening, he made sure we ate our delicious dinner, and he even helped me with my train and veil during pictures and bustled my dress before the reception!! Rehearsal and decor pickups were super stress-free and easy too. Thank you to everyone at Union Station for making our wedding the best day of our lives (so far)!!!

Maple Shade 1785 Farm & Estate

5.0

Delhi, NY
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Limited services
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $15,000

Our majestic property catches your eye immediately with a large yellow barn set back from the road draped by rolling grassy fields. As beautiful as the entry is behind the barn there is a lovely flat featuring a large spring fed pond, stonewalls galore and a Catskill mountain backdrop. Grand entrances welcome guests to spacious dining and entertaining spaces. The barn was completed in 1890 and is a one-of-a-kind piece of art and architecture Warm lights highlight the original wood interior, wide floorboards welcome dancers and cozy nooks create mingling opportunities for every guest. The soft grass courtyard and old paths are surrounded by stonewalls that lure you to a secret ceremony site and first look locations. Breathtaking sunsets and star filled skies make your day magical. Come see the Maple Shade Magic for yourself!

Yes! CHOOSE THIS VENUE!! You’ve found the right place! We are finally getting around to posting our review about the most perfect wedding venue we could have imagined! We saw Maple Shade November ‘22 when we were ‘shopping’ for a wedding venue; choosing it was a no brainer. The barn itself is unique and different than any others we have seen and it comes with everything. Dining area upstairs, separate from the cocktail hour, dancing, downstairs bar, lounge area, game room (this place has it all!). Long farm tables are gorgeous within themselves and need minimal decorations. And with the venue having SO MUCH on site, there was no need for us to order and prepare any other decor items like we would have needed at some of the ‘Blank Canvas’ barns we initially considered. The barn sits on acres and acres of land, giving you the option of where to have your ceremony, we chose right in front of the pond where our wedding party had a grand entrance from the large barn doors. MAGICAL! Enough about the venue, although we hope this paints an accurate picture! Everything you could need is there!! More importantly, Jay and Abby Wilson (owners of Maple Shade) are absolute rockstars. From our first visit and follow up phone call, we knew working together would be a breeze. They were helpful in our initial planning stages, helping us plan different details, offering extremely helpful advice. Wedding day they were like conductors of an orchestra, making sure everyone and everything were in place and running according to plan. It was PERFECT! And when uncontrollable things don’t go to plan, they had us covered! On our wedding day in late July, there was a high percentage of rain expected only during the time of our ceremony; Jay and Abby made the call that morning to put up a tent and made all the adjustments needed without causing bride and groom any extra stress… THANK GOD they did - it literally monsooned during the ceremony, like nothing we've seen before at an outdoor wedding! (Just a fluke storm rolling though). They reminded us that as a bride and groom getting married at their venue, they make the same decisions for us and our guests that they would make for their own children. They are kind and caring and so fun, and certainly know how to run a wedding venue. We respected, trusted and appreciated all their knowledge and hard work. It’s definitely not their first rodeo! As we will continue to call this day "the best day ever," we are very grateful to Jay and Abby for all of their help, attention to detail, and their ability to see and understand our vision for the most perfect wedding we could have imagined. Ps- they made a few recommendations for supplementary vendors (catering, DJ, bartenders) and all their recommendations were also HOME RUNS! It was such a smooth operation.

We got married at "A Private Estate" in October of 2018. We visited the year before, and it was one of the few (and the last) places we looked at. I loved it from the start. The grounds were beautiful, but more importantly, the people were great. I felt like we were dealing with real people who were doing what they do out of both love and pride. They showed us all the options, allowed us plenty of space to decide, and overall gave off good vibes. Our intuition told us this was it, and a year later we were so grateful we listened. After a year of planning an outdoor wedding we found out there would be a nor'easter... in October... with high winds and hail... the day of the wedding (thirty-seven degrees!) When we arrived, on Thursday, I was devastated. I never thought I'd find myself crying over the weather, or caring quite so much, but after all the work that goes in to planning and all the family that had traveled to be with us I felt sick. I thought I would be so sad until the wedding was over but as soon as we stepped out of the car the crew, specifically Jack, turned the whole situation around. He brought us wine and firewood, walked us through the estate, allowed us to use this beautiful tent they had put up, and talked about the set-up and how we could work it all out no matter what happened with the weather. He spoke with me and my mother outside the front house in the windy, chilly weather for maybe an hour, reassuring us that no matter what happened he would figure it out, and he did. The morning of the wedding was rain, wind, hail, etc... but that didn't stop Jack, and our wedding planner Danielle (Every Little Detail), from making sure everything was perfect. We watched them run up and down the hills in the rain, shuffling people, heating the barn, and working so hard on our behalf, and I don't think a single guest really even noticed. All we heard was how beautiful the space was, how much fun everyone was having, how impressed they were. RIpley brought us umbrellas and blankets as waited on the porch during the ceremony and was so welcoming and accommodating. A Private Estate was the perfect venue for us. It is so customizable too, whether you want a fancy & formal affair, or a more relaxed party. The views and the grounds speak for themselves, but the true value is having a supportive staff who care as much about your wedding as you do. Every time I look at my wedding photos (the rain makes for some great lighting!) I remember all the love from our families and friends, and the overwhelming appreciation for the staff at A Private Estate. It is cliche, but if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing. Two years later I still feel the same gratitude. With A Private Estate you can have the outdoor wedding of your dreams... even in a nor'easter.
