The Davis-Shai House is available for your birthday party, business meetings, memorials, showers, rehearsal dinners, weddings, receptions and more. Choose one of our historic rooms for an intimate gathering, one of our beautiful banquet rooms for your reception, or our beautifully landscaped lawn for outdoor weddings. All rooms are available for rental only or with the option of in-house catering and a variety of menu options to select. Our menu options include plated lunches and dinner, English teas, and party packages (light hors d’oeuvres and appetizers), as well as bar service. All event rentals include: tables, chairs, all table linens, centerpieces, glassware, drinks, set up and clean up, and friendly staff and volunteers. The building, was used as a hunting lodge for Western & Southern executives in the early 1900s before being restored in 1942 by Walt Ballanger, who made his mark in the community by serving delicious smokehouse ribs. In 1958, Bill Melton purchased and successfully ran the business for 50 years. Today, Walt’s, under new ownership since 2012, continues to welcome people with a unique equestrian theme by preserving Walt's rich history and traditions. In 2016, Cedar Grove’s owners, Kevin and Julie Claus, were sitting on the porch of Stillwater Lodge with some friends, gazing upon their 65-acre property. They talked about their 3 children growing up on the property, and reminisced on how so many milestones were celebrated. Kevin quickly grabbed a napkin and feverishly started scribbling sketches of a large lodge that could hold all of their friends and family, celebrating the futures of their children.
