Sherwood Gardens is a progressive & inclusive venue welcoming traditional as well as non traditional weddings & ceremonies. The 10 acre estate is located in the City of Plainwell offering conveniences of the city while maintaining a secluded natural environment. The weekend estate rental includes 3 days & 2 nights lodging providing guests with a relaxed experience and ample time for preparation, celebrations, & cleanup. Estate rental includes full use of the Event Barn, grounds, & house. The 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house sleeps up to 16 guests, & is perfect for the family & wedding parties to get ready & stay for the weekend. A weekend stay allows parties additional time in the Event Barn for set up, decorating, & rehearsal dinner as well as cleanup. Located in Aurora’s historical Pocus building, Society 57 is home to a beautiful, 7-day a week social space designed to imaginatively bring people together from all walks of life. Our first phase includes over 9,000 square feet of space and features a premier wedding and event venue, a specialty coffee shop, mid-size meeting rooms, and more. Society 57. The house, known today as Reid Hall, was completed in 1908 and the family moved in on May 5, led by J. Ogden Armour, until approximately September of 1927. Many of the house’s mantle pieces, there are 15, and the paneling of the library reading room (or former living room), were imported from Paris, Vienna and London, including the marble dining room while the main walls are of Italian marble, the central panels of each wall have been painted over the plaster to simulate actual marble. It is also reputed that the marble staircase was built with the primary purpose in mind that their daughter, Lolita Ogden Armour, would descend the curving stairway on her wedding day, which she did in 1921, to John J. Mitchell, Jr. Eventually the property was sold to Lake Forest Academy where classes began in 1948. Today, Academy grounds total approximately 170 acres.
