Steel City Florals

5.0

Pittsburgh, PA
  • Starts at $2,000

Steel City Florals is born out of a passion for natures beauty, celebrating all types of love and decorating life's biggest moments! We love designing out of the box arrangements and enjoy doing big installation florals. We use color as a way to express ourselves! When I’m not busy with SCF I enjoy hanging with my cats, teaching my students about nature, going on hikes and reading books!

Kaitlyn is a floral visionary! I gave her our theme/vision, asked she try to include local, seasonally available flowers, and let her do her thing which far exceeded anything I could have imagined. I was thrilled to find out that some of our florals even came from her own flower garden! From the initial proposal she sent to the final design for our wedding, it was clear she understood our Penguin Publisher literary book theme and the bright pops of color inspired by the Penguin Publisher book covers. Kaitlyn is an artist in every sense of the word and absolutely wonderful to work with!

    Woodland Floral Design Co.

Proud Cat & Dog Mom // Your New Wedding Vendor BFF It’s never been just about pretty flowers to me. I started out in social work because I wanted to serve and connect with others. I first entered the floral design world as an intern in 2016 and noticed a lack of originality in designs and a need for more connection between the florist and the couple. When I started WFD in 2019, I decided to prioritize both artistic designs and building long-term relationships with each couple. Planning my own wedding in 2021 gave me an even deeper appreciation for the importance of receiving creative expertise and genuine support from wedding vendors.

Misha was great. We had a few discussions in the early stages of planning and I sent her some inspo pictures of what I wanted and what I liked. I was really open to anything and let her be as creative as she can be and let me tell you…. Everything was GORGEOUS. I received so many compliments on my bouquet and the ceremony pillars. The colors of the flowers, the arrangements, the textures… stunning. I couldn’t recommend her enough as she’s incredibly talented. 10/10

Poppy did an amazing job bringing our vision to life for our wedding florals, and was much more affordable than any other options we considered. The wedding went off without a hitch. The only issue I had was regarding communication. We were promised we would be given a direct phone number/email for the person who was actually designing and delivering the flowers, but that was not true - we were given a generic phone and email. I was beginning to panic wondering whether my flowers had been delivered, but fortunately they were! This is not a knock on the florist herself who was fantastic. But Poppy should be able to provide some sort of direct connection for day-of logistics.

    The Faux Bouquets

    Redlands, CA
    • Starts at $175
    • Serves Carnegie, PA

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

I chose to do the artificial floral rentals using the lovely lush package and picked the garden vibrance suite. I also added on some other items like the micro floral spray and the mini toss. These items really helped round out my reception. Using the rentals was perfect for me as I knew I simply did not want to have to put in a ton of time assembling floral arrangements and I didn’t have to worry about keeping them/giving them away. They also reached out to see more what I wanted in my keepsake bouquet and boutonnière where I was able to personalize and add succulents! After the ceremony and reception, I received many compliments on how well done the flowers were.

As my fiancé and I started the wedding planning process, we joked that our loose theme would be “flowers and love.” We knew we wanted lots of beautiful, lush florals as the primary decor focus, and also knew we didn’t want to spend the many thousands of dollars to achieve that look with a standard florist. If you’re in the same boat, and have an appetite for some DIYing, I’d STRONGLY recommend working with Bloom Culture. After some Googling for DIY wedding florals, I came across Bloom Culture and spoke with Allison for a custom consultation. During the call, Allison helped me express the type of floral look we were going for, and built out a custom floral package that would achieve it. She also laid out the delivery and prep process, and we landed on a final package and timeline for delivery. We received a LARGE box of flowers the week before the wedding and were immediately pleased with the quantity and quality of flowers we had received. Allison’s guide mentioned that some crushed or damaged blooms would be completely normal, but everything was so well packaged we didn’t notice more than a few damaged stems. From there, the DIYing began. Between unpacking, trimming, de-thorning, trimming again, building bouquets, arrangements, boutonnieres, etc, etc, it was a LOT of work. However, we referenced Allison’s guides (written, video tutorials) religiously and they laid out everything perfectly. She strongly recommends having plenty of assistants -- pay attention to this advice! Find a few trusted friends or family members who have time and artistic ability and it will make all the difference in your stress levels. The flowers all lasted beautifully for the wedding and we received so many compliments on how they looked. Allison - thank you for everything!
