That's why I chose to be a wedding photographer 14 years ago. It's those deeper connections of love that move me and make my heart skip a beat. Let me put it this way: I get chills when I see dust catch in the light, I get giddy when I watch a mountain sunset run its fingers through windblown hair, my heart swells when I see flowers blooming through cracks in the street and laughter running wild through the breeze. Hi! My name is Jon Kohlwey and I'm a Colorado based photographer specializing in weddings and music. I'm originally from Wisconsin, but moved out to Colorado back in 2000. Before I found my passion in photography, I was working at Granby Ranch learning the ski and golf industry. I then spent two years working as a wedding coordinator for Granby Ranch. There is no wedding too far! When I'm not shooting weddings you can usually find me at a concert or show.

After all these years of having a camera by my side, i've discovered that i most enjoy getting to document authentic connections, remarkable relationships and ALL the good stuff that happens in between. i find imagery to be incredibly powerful. looking at an image can genuinely take me back to THAT moment in time. i smell the smells, i hear the sounds, and i feel all the feels again. its just magical! and because life is inevitably evolving and changing, i think it is so important to document life as much and as often as you can! especially for those extra special times in life! this is what its all about for us!

I’ve studied in museums and archives, earned two academic degrees in photography, and practice both in artistic and commercial worlds. Every day I am challenged to make thoughtful imagery using tools I’ve studied and experimented with.
