I love photographing weddings at Manhatta restaurant in downtown Manhattan. The team at Manhatta couldn't have been more professional, accommodating and friendly! The last couple I photographed at Manhatta had such a great time, which was evident in the joy and love in the photos. The rooms were infused with light and a beautiful warm glow at sunset. The views of the city were breathtaking - the guests were very impressed. There was ample room for the couple of have a band perform and to also dance the night away with all of their family and friends. I highly recommend this venue!

Located in Manhattan’s vibrant Flatiron neighborhood in a historic turn-of-the-century building, Harding’s, is the ideal wedding reception venue for the non-traditional couple looking to evoke an air of nostalgia on their wedding day. Exposed brick walls, antique mirrors, vintage chandeliers, and an over sized, century-old American flag preserve the rich history of this two-level gem from the Gilded Age. The 19th-century ambiance creates a dramatic backdrop for a stunning wedding reception. From the beginning, Harding's takes you in and treats you like family. We listen to what you want and work with you to ensure that every aspect of your day is perfect. Our entire team prides itself on making your special day unique and memorable. Couples will have the option to dazzle their guests with this spectacular food. Celebrate your special day at Harding’s for a wedding you’ll never forget.

Awarded Best of Zola
I’ve been fortunate to be able to DJ many weddings at Harding’s over the past few years and it’s truly one of my favorite places to work at. The owners Ken and Jill are terrific to work with and really are open to customizing every wedding for each couple. The venue itself is an intimate and unique space. If someone is looking for something different than a traditional ballroom wedding, this really might be the right fit for them. The food and drinks are great, they are able to do buffet or sit down dinner service and as a vendor, they treat us like part of the team and just not some random person coming into their space. If you are having a smaller wedding and are looking for a cool NYC venue in a terrific location, you need to check out Harding’s!

Bryant Park Grill

5.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 220 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor

Experience the enchantment of your special day at Bryant Park Grill, nestled behind the iconic New York Public Library in the heart of Manhattan’s Bryant Park. Surrounded by majestic London Planetrees reminiscent of the famed Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, our sophisticated and romantic venue offers three distinct areas—the Rooftop Terrace, the Garden, and the Grill Dining Room—that promise an unforgettable setting for your wedding celebration. Capture timeless moments against the backdrop of the classical French carousel, the majestic New York Public Library, and beautiful Bryant Park. With endless opportunities for stunning photos, your wedding day will be beautifully immortalized in every frame. Our highly experienced team of dedicated planners is committed to ensuring that every detail of your wedding is nothing short of perfection. Let us turn your wedding dreams into cherished memories at Bryant Park Grill.

As an AV vendor, we work all over the city in many different types of venues. Like many restaurants, the Bryant Park Grill doesn't have any technology built in to it, which of course means we're often asked to bring in more equipment than in some purpose-built spaces, but that actually makes it somewhat of a blank canvas that can create excellent events. In some spaces like this, the staff and events teams can be difficult to work with, not wanting to allow anything they haven't seen before, but the team at BPG is extremely accommodating. They of course have to protect the restaurant, but are always interested in helping figure out the best solution to make the client's event go the way they want it. This carries all the way through from the people who work to plan the events to the people who are on site executing the events. We've developed a great relationship with everyone there over time, and are proud to be able to provide services for a large number of events every year.

The Gem Saloon

5.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 80 guests
  • Limited services
  • Indoor & outdoor

Located on the corner of Third Ave and 27th Street in the heart of Murray Hill. The Gem Saloon - a modern day American saloon has a lot to offer. Craft cocktails, beer and wine can be paired with tasty kitchen bites. Our beautiful main level features a large horseshoe bar and multiple dining areas, while our mezzanine level 'Trixie's' is great for smaller groups. Both spaces are available for private events and we look forward to hosting you.

The Gem Saloon hosted the surprise engagement party I threw for my fiancé and it was the perfect spot. Starting first with my communication with Nicole, who is the events manager, she was incredibly responsive and helpful, as we sent numerous emails back and forth throughout the planning process. Having someone so readily available and quick to answer questions is a huge perk in my book, I feel without that, that’s where you lose a lot of business from the start. Then fast forward to the day off, the Gem allows you to bring outside decorations and desserts (if you wish) and do not charge a cake cutting fee. Being able to put your own decorative touch on your event can be special so it’s nice that Gem allows you that option. In terms of food, I did place a food order with Gem from their platter menu. All of my guests said how excellent the food was - I personally can sway that the beef skewers were awesome, highly recommend! The bartender assigned to my event was also lovely, she managed the bar swiftly (had about 55 guests) all on her own and had a very generous pour. The last person of note was Bernard. He was the on site manager the day of my event and he was a sweetheart. He checked in every so often to see if there was anything he could do or that we needed, incredibly attentive. Then when my fiancé and I were waiting on our Uber to leave the event, he gave us each a free glass of champagne for one last celebratory drink while we waited. Overall, everyone went above and beyond to make this day special and my guests felt that, they couldn’t have more than enough good things to say. One even said, I’ve lived and worked in NYC my whole life, how did I never know about this place? So if you’re on the fence about Gem, don’t hesitate, they’re absolutely great. And as someone who can be a critic of overly positive reviews, I will give the one negative that I have, was just that during the event (and keep in mind I reserved the second floor mezzanine - which was great to feel separated and private from the rest of the bar) that between being higher up and having around 55 people, it did get a bit hot up there, but you can always request that the air be turned down! All in all, 5/5 venue and party

The Sanctuary RI

3.8

New York, NY
  • Up to 300 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $15,000

The Sanctuary is a beautiful and iconic wedding venue on the East River in New York City. It includes more than 16,000 square feet of event space and affords spectacular views of Manhattan. The property has several magnificent event spaces. The Sanctuary was formerly a church near The Octagon, a historic octagonal building on Roosevelt Island, now on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Sanctuary's original stained glass windows and locally quarried granite combine with more modern features, including a sweeping 40-foot ceiling and 30-foot marble bar, to create an effect that's nothing short of marvelous. The Sanctuary opens onto a covered veranda, complete with lounge seating and an Instagram-ready mural of Roosevelt Island. Beyond this lies the 4,000-square-foot Terrace, a beautiful reception space that can seat over 250 guests. Other notable event areas include the lovely front-yard Patio, the tranquil VIP Courtyard, and the fully renovated three-bedroom stone House

I loved in New York for 20 years and found this location by accident. When we saw the pictures I thought there was no way it would be as cute in person, but then going for a site visit I was blown away. The Sanctuary had so much character and Alfonso and Frank were so helpful and open throughout the process. We were planning from California and they helped source vendors, provided onsite support and made allowances for special requests. Nothing like the hotels and wedding factories we’d seen. We had a truly bespoke wedding on the water dancing under the stars with the city to frame all of it. The food and drinks were plentiful and the staff on the day of our wedding was so gracious. I can’t recommend them enough. So grateful to have found them. Pics at #doreenandrob #doreenswedding2023

After canceling our big celebration due to the pandemic, we turned to Bottino to plan a ~25 person wedding in under a month. Danny, Anthony, and their whole team were incredible. They were so accommodating and flexible (as plans continued to evolve up to the evening before!). We had the ceremony, cocktails, and a delicious dinner in their beautiful back garden, and they managed to turn the space over in record time, prioritizing everybody's safety, without disrupting the festivities. The staff were exceedingly wonderful and kind, and they ensured the event went off without a hitch. Cannot recommend Bottino enough!

When is the best month for a wedding in New York City?

This is one of those questions that everyone will have a different answer to. The best time to get married in NYC really depends on your vision for your wedding. Is it when Central Park is a wonderland of cherry blossoms, or when the holiday lights make everything twinkle like a rom-com set? Weather-wise, May and June are your best bets for an outdoor wedding. But if you’re dreaming of an "Autumn in New York" aesthetic, aim for September or October when the air is crisp, and your guests won’t be sweating. But let's keep it real – in the city that never sleeps, love doesn't have an off-season, and neither do fabulous weddings. Winter nuptials? You could end up with a magical snowy vibe, and you’ll probably save some money. So ultimately, you can’t go wrong.

How far in advance do I need to book a wedding venue in New York City?

In the fast-paced whirlwind that is NYC, wedding venues can be booked up pretty far in advance. It's a good rule of thumb to start your venue hunt as soon as your engagement bliss begins to settle—usually around 12 to 18 months in advance, and to actually book your venue closer to 9-14 months in advance. If you've set your heart on those prime dates or sought-after spots, earlier is definitely better. Think of it as your very own New York minute—the sooner you act, the more options you'll have. But if you're the spontaneous type or planning on a shorter engagement, don't fret! Flexibility on dates or considering unique or off-the-beaten-path venues can turn up some hidden gems, even at the last minute.

Is a New York City wedding on a budget possible?

You’ll usually find the venue itself, catering, tables, chairs and linens, and often a dance floor where you and your guests can boogie the night away. And let's not forget the staff! Many packages provide a team of wait staff, bartenders, and on-site coordinators to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible.
