The Oakland Scottish Rite Center was completed in 1927, with over a thousand craftsmen working on the project. The construction cost was approximately $1.5 million. This was a sizeable sum at the time equivalent to about $22 million today. From ground breaking to completion the edifice was erected in just two years. This is the second temple in Oakland built from the ground up by the Scottish Rite Masonic fraternity since 1883, when it was first chartered in Oakland.

Designed by renowned architect John Galen Howard and originally opened in the fall of 1923, Memorial Stadium underwent seismic renovations in Dec. 2010 to bring the facility up to modern standards - all while maintaining the architecture and character of the celebrated structure. Neighboring a plush wall of pine trees in the Berkeley Hills to the east, with a million-dollar panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay Area to the west and stunning sights of the Richmond Bridge, the Bay Bridge and the famed Golden Gate Bridge! The North Star House was built during the age of the California Gold Rush as a home and business accommodation for the second largest producing mine in California. It was designed by Julia Morgan, the first licensed female architect in in the State. Her greatest claim to fame is the Hearst Castle. The House features a catering kitchen, lighted courtyard, open grassy areas, wooded views, a veranda overlooking the sunset and plenty of parking. We're only a couple miles from Downtown Grass Valley's accommodations, shops and nightlife. We allow for lots of flexibility in how you plan your day and you can bring your own vendors and beverages.
