I have a BFA in art/photography from the University of Georgia, over 25 years experience in photography, and 15 years photographing beautiful weddings. I've had the honor of being published in the wedding issue of Virginia Living Magazine. I'm a wife, mother, hiker, artist, reader, baker, and aspiring golfer. I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with my husband, and my two energetic boys.

Hi! My name is Jo Mahaney. In addition to being a wedding photographer, I have become a professional boutonniere pinner, bonus bridesmaid, master timeline creator, manipulator of light, and emotional confidant. Primarily, I am there as your wedding photographer to ensure that--although your memory will fade with time--these photographs serve as vivid reminders of the joy in the season and the relationships that matter most. Photography by Jo began back in 2014 when I shot my first wedding for my roommates, while still in college. That year, I fell in love with weddings and have focused on those and other major family milestones ever since.

I'm a Virginia girl, the oldest of three kids, and happily married to a Virginia guy. I've been crazy about photography since childhood, perfecting my style since elementary school! Decades later, I am thrilled and honored to be capturing priceless moments for my clients as they celebrate their weddings. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me reading adventure stories to my kids, canning fruits and veggies from our garden, assembling vibrant bouquets of wildflowers, or planning campouts and travels for our family.
