Established in 2019, Up North Events is a wedding planning company in Northern Michigan. We work with all kinds of couples who have one thing in common: they want their wedding day to be meaningful, genuine, relaxed, and FUN. We like to discover the small details that make your celebration unique to you - little bits of your family history, special cultural traditions, and other personal touches. We believe in true love with open hearts and open minds.

I have been in the design business since 2004. Weddings have truly been a passion for me. I will work with any budget to make couples vision come true. Charlevoix has been our summer residence since 1989. My husband grew up in Charlevoix so our roots are deep.

I have always had a passion for planning, coordinating, and managing. Brainstorming unique event ideas or helping someone else’s vision come to life sparks a fire in me. This lead me to the go back to school pursuing a degree in project management and communications. After graduating, I worked for a premier wedding venue in northern Michigan and decided to venture off on my own. This is how light the Way Events was born!

Chive started as a Vegan Restaurant in Farmington, MI by Chef and Owner Suzy Silvestre. Suzy's past life included Marketing and Business Development where she was the constant Event Coordinator. Chive became a popular destination for events and sought out for wedding catering. Fast forward Chive has become a full time Caterer and Event Planner and we love every minute of it.
