Film brought art back to photography — having control over the film stock, using particular cameras for different reasons, doing double exposures with film blindly, souping film and customizing the development process to the wedding, and so much more. And through film, I embrace the imperfections of weddings — following along with your flow of the day and natural interactions of your friends and family. Capturing your wedding story as it happens is always the priority and focus.

By walking into your wedding day subtly, becoming one of the crowd, I get to hear all of the vulnerable pieces of history that make you you and your wedding day yours. This process leads to vulnerable, and intimate imagery that captures you as you are.

Looked great online and the contract seemed very professional, then everything crashed. Never got an engagement shoot, had to threaten lawsuit to get any pictures 6 months later. And the photos were incomplete with out any editing options. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Eli was wonderful during our engagement shoot, they were so kind and made us feel very comfortable. Eli was hiding down the beach during our proposal and captured these special moments, as well as the celebration with our family following. Despite our great interaction during the photo session Eli NEVER sent us our photos, it has now been over a year. We have called, sent emails, texts, instagram messages with no responses. We are so very disappointed that we trusted Eli with these special moments and they did not deliver. If they lost the photos, while still upset we wish they would just tell us, so we would stop holding out hope that we might one day see these cherished memories they captured for us. I would not recommend trusting Eli with capturing your special memories.

Very similar experience to many of the poor reviews on here. Booked Eli for our wedding 3 years ago. Still waiting for our wedding video. It took 7 months just to receive our "teaser" video; which I had to inquire about several times after it was not delivered as quickly as the contract said it would be. For over a year, I've only received 2 or 3 responses to my multiple emails, phone calls and texts. Each response just promising to "look into this ASAP." I'm heartbroken; we paid so much for these services while more and more time goes by that we don't have what we paid for.

We were going to go with an off island photographer when we came across Eli and their work. Their knowledge of the island, how the wind blows differently on different sides of our venue, how the light hits perfectly on this side of the venue and we can still get an ocean view — that they care about the power lines and know how to avoid cars in the back of ceremony images. The list just went on and on and on. Working with Eli was like working with a walking encyclopedia of Block Island. And when you're getting married on the island, it's such an asset. Eli helped walk us through other on island vendors, best spots for our engagement sessions, different hotels that might suite certain guests better than others, an amazing casual rehearsal dinner/welcome party idea that was flawless, and I just couldn't be happier. When we got the images though, I didn't know what to say. Eli had captured so much of our story, we felt the same jitters getting ready to walk down the aisle looking through images of moments we didn't. get to experience on our wedding day (we were a little busy, getting married, and you just can't witness everything). Eli was so great with our friends and family, able to choral a few of my drunk groomsmen, while simultaneously making my antsy family members just super at ease and happy. I couldn't be happier in working with Eli and can't wait to see them in future years when we visit.

Yes! I'm here on island full time in the summer, and head off to destination weddings off island in the winter. I have a studio space on Water Street where we can always meet before your wedding weekend. Prior to the move, I have been vacationing on island since I was 6 months old.

I always work with an assistant on site, and bring on additional photographers as needed. All weddings under the Eli Holmes name are led by me.

Typically, couples book me about 9-12 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.

I do! The venues on island receive our COI at the beginning of the season so you don't have to worry about letting them know.

Hardly any of my clients jump for joy at the idea of being in front of the camera, I don't either. That said, I promise in front of the camera your beauty and joy will shine!

If you're talking about a Block Island wedding venue, absolutely I have. I've been on site at every wedding venue on Block Island for either a wedding or engagement session at some point in my career, and often each season.

Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity for us to spend a little time together and break the ice before the big weekend. I'm always willing to come off island for an engagement session in the late fall to early spring and can always do an engagement session on island.

Block Island weddings are hardly ever an 8-hour affair. Definitely book services for the weekend — it gives you the opportunity to have all of the details and events that you've meticulously planned photographed. It also gives you a ton of flexibility in how you work your wedding day.
