About Into Dust Photography

Kimberly Person

Photographer / Owner

I've been photographing professionally since 2004 and while it's always so awkward to write about yourself, here goes: In that time, I've been honored in my field as Seattle Bride Magazine's Best Photographer multiple years and invited to the exclusive list of WBWP as one of the World's Best Wedding Photographers, planners and clients tell me I'm known for flattering posing, natural results, indoor lighting in tricky situations, and a light touch that allows beautiful moments to flourish ♥︎

Memory is a delicate and beautiful thing. Beyond the flurry of likes on a social media posts, I believe the ✧true value✧ of photographs is in the stories and feelings they prompt years and lifetimes from now. My job is to capture genuine emotion and gesture in which you remember your own moments and not the camera - using my movement and dance background to make it all the most flattering and natural way possible. I will also help you organize and display your most treasured photos to enjoy in your life everyday to connect you to the past and the future.

Of all the vendors we worked with for our ceremony and reception, Kimberly was by far THE BEST! She is proactive, personal, and professional. We knew she had everything taken care of on her end and we could relax about anything photography-related. We loved working with her and we love all of our photographs. We've received many compliments on the quality and uniqueness of them too! She had a way of naturally capturing moments, while not always posed. We would recommend Into Dust 100%.

  • Thanks for keeping my memories safe, Kim

Hiring Kim (specifically Kimberly Person, regardless of company name) was the best decision I made for my wedding. The short version: + Photography: gorgeous photos in both indoor and outdoor settings, in tricky lighting, for groups of people with widely varying complexions and dress colors, staging props, and including pets without unnatural filters/corrections + Planning: Years of experience lending to a helpful planning checklist, network of talented wedding vendors, willingness to jump in where needed to ensure wedding planning and wedding itself go well + Extras: Prioritizes bride/groom’s comfort and experience over everything else, makes taking pictures feel fun, gets where she needs to be for every photo opportunity The longer version is that I can’t imagine having had my wedding without Kim. I delayed my wedding a year because of Covid, and Kim was only supportive throughout. She remained flexible with date changes, and always seemed to care more about how I was feeling than how changes to my plans were changing her plans as well. My wedding was at the Asian Art Museum in Seattle in October. I got ready at my house with my bridesmaids in the morning, did my first look outside my house (the dog got to join in too!) in the early afternoon, took photos with my husband and our bridal party in Volunteer Park on a luckily clear afternoon, took photos with our families in a room with floor to ceiling windows inside the Asian Art Museum a little before sunset, followed by the ceremony in the same glass-walled room after sunset, and danced the night away in the brightly-lit main hall. The photos Kim took in all those different environments are equally stunning, showcasing a very wide range of skin colors, varied shades of blue and green jewel tones in dresses, and either the soft white of the museum or the bright greens, reds, and yellows of the park in fall for the background. Despite the changing light between our family photos and ceremony in a glass-walled room, Kim made us look and feel. Kim’s cues were easy to lean in to and my wedding photos look and feel natural. Kim was also my unofficial wedding planner. Whenever I asked her for a recommendation, she first checked to see if the people she was recommending were available on my wedding day. Kim built in all the right buffers in our schedule for the day and walked the officiant through how to correctly fill out and sign the paperwork after the ceremony. She expertly navigated family drama and possible conflict by asking us about it weeks before the wedding. She made sure she had everyone’s preferred names and pronouns, and coordinated with all our other vendors to ensure everything was staged and photo ready on time. What I will never forget and will forever be thankful for is how Kim prioritized my comfort over two years of wedding planning and the million moments of my wedding day. She shut down strangers in the park who were taking photos of me and making me uncomfortable, reminded me to point my toes before the first dance, and drove my husband and me to the wedding so we weren’t dependent on anyone else’s schedule. Kim is the reason why I can look back on the beautiful memories of my wedding day, and all the moments my guests enjoyed that I wasn’t present for. I suspect she knew my husband and I would be pulled in many directions that day, but she caught every moment we were on our own and every moment we weren’t present for, taking in everything and everyone around us.
