My business started with decoration my own wedding 5 years ago. Since then I decorated numerous event both in US and Europe. I'm focused on creating modern natural arrangements using a sustainable approach. We are completely foam free, use as many local flowers as possible and constantly looking for more sustainable practices we can bring into our business.

I take pride in helping my Brides and the party. I only use high quality florals, and give my upmost attention to detail. I have been a Designer for 30+ years, and keep up on new trends. We specialize in creative and elegant design. We only accept one wedding per weekend so we can give the upmost attention. We look forward in working with you.

My name is Rachel and I am the lead floral designer of Velvet Blooms. After studying music with an emphasis in vocals, I began to rethink what my creative path would be. Her journey started at the age of six years old, Melissa-May was surrounded by all aspects of creativity. Her ability to visualize things, put them onto paper and create anything from scratch was also apparent at a young age when she completed an illustration of her dream house, then constructed an entire floor plan and a model house made out of popsicle sticks. Furthermore, at the age of 12, her friend’s mother noticed Melissa-May’s gift of artistry and requested that she create cartoon place cards for her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. She later was asked to create the invitations and centerpieces for her best friend’s Debutant ball.

After graduating with a Visual Design degree from FIT in New York City, I moved back to the Bay Area and decided to continue to pursue my passion for florals and romance. Now seven full wedding seasons in, I can call myself an artisan floral designer known for wild, raw and natural arrangements.
